I am a high-ranking member of a military-style series of small RP groups called the Robloxian Empire, and I created uniforms for a subdivision of it that that uses the Roblox logo as a shoulder patch. There are about 20-30 of these uploaded in my name. My friend, the owner of these groups, has uploaded multiple copies of the group’s logo, which also use the Roblox logo, and used the logo for additional assets such as shirts and decals.
We are both concerned about the potential of us getting terminated due to DMCA (and potential false DSA reports), and if these usages of the logo on assets are even allowed considered the recent bans that have been occuring on high-profile users due to the DMCA apparently applying to the Roblox logo. We’d like to know if this usage is against the ToS, if we are likely going to get terminated, and if so, we would like to get advice (from either staff or others who have had similar issues) on the alleviation of these issues as fast as possible.
People have been waiting years for things to get removed through them, but even then, avoiding moderation isn’t guaranteed despite what the email claims.
More recently, I’ve emailed them but they’ve been ghosting me so I haven’t had anything removed, nor even an acknowledgment that they WILL be removed.
There’s nothing you can do.
I’ve heard renaming items to “archive” and taking them off sale help in avoiding moderation, but nothing is guaranteed. I haven’t received a DMCA for any of my 100+ uploads (I was stupid), but it’s a little concerning that I can’t remove anything.
I don’t think I’ll risk the copyright agent smiting my account of 7+ years so I’ll archive what I can and do what you suggested for anything else. Thank you. Roblox really needs a “delete asset from Roblox” button.
Let me know if you receive a response. I know @TheFreeThinker is also trying to get some items removed, and neither of us have received any correspondence recently.
I recommend checking their post in another thread today here. They’re better at explaining what the deal is right now.
ipcontent_removal_request is supposed to be a deprecated email address, so don’t use that.
copyright_agent is supposed to be the correct email address, but me and many other users have found out it simply redirects to the regular support team and should not be used for any serious matters (ie avoiding bans by archiving assets)
Source: I personally sent an email to copyright_agent asking for a long list of items to be archived. None of them got archived, and I even got a false strike on an item in the list, and when I tried appealing I was only told by support that there was never an archival request/that the ticket didn’t exist. Do not use copyright_agent for anything of importance as it simply redirects to the regular support team.
This implies to only be for off-platform use, and additionally it was never enforced before DSA. I think it may be faulty moderation, now that I think about it. Or I missed something critical in this page.
Edit: Checked TOS, and found this which appears to cover the allowance of the use of the roblox logo in experiences and virtual content (which should cover ugc)
“Subject to the foregoing restriction and Creator’s adherence to the Roblox Name and Logo Guidelines, Roblox hereby grants Creator a non-exclusive, personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use Roblox trademarks, whether registered or unregistered, solely for use within Creator’s Experience(s) on the Services, including in connection with the creation of Virtual Content (“Roblox Trademark License”).”
Yeah, I didn’t get too much into the items use of logos and name section.
I just recall trying to change the description of a game and kept getting it refused when I hit enter, but with no description of why. I edited it so many times, until I realized that it was because I used the term “normal WASD Roblox controls” to describe how to drive boats in my game. When I removed the word Roblox it was instantly allowed.
