Typically using a subdivision surface modifier so you actually only have to worry about a very small number of vertices.

Eh, its pretty simple since its a rough draft, nothing final (unfortunately the final version will be a low poly ;c). I guess I just plan an image in my head and improvise.
Btw, hotkeys r bae.

I wish it were that simple, lol.

After spending maybe… 2 hours tops i was able to redo my “ride on a train” code i had made on my old laptop.

After finally having some time on my day off, I’ve finished porting the most basic gameplay code from the older versions of Sound Volblox into my new rescript, as well as some new visuals that I got a chance to animate today

Not quite done yet, but this is still definitely some good progress.

finished

Your stuff should get way more likes, honestly the Sound Volblox project is one of the best designed games I’ve seen on roblox that look like it could pass as a purchasable steam title.

The amount of work all of that takes is under appreciated

Very nice!

One optimization tip, for my track laying code I measure the straightness of the current section of the spline and if it’s pretty straight, only make one long track section for it. Saves on parts quit a bit.

You can kind of see it at work in this crappy video (I really need to invest some time in getting better video tools on this laptop), note how the straight sections are done in large sections.

For future reference, the code actually “walks” along the spline measuring the curve and rotation deviation from the previous last rendered sections end point. When the deviation crosses a certain threshold it makes a new track section. This way the track matches the curve pretty well using small segments on tight curves and longer pieces for straighter areas automatically.
