I really hope they still exist somewhere. They’ve been a solution to many of my scripting problems.
I don’t know why they deleted them, I understand deleting subforums like LMaD
but the scripting forums, even though most of it’s content is probably found somewhere else, I could google questions, and often got several forum posts that usually answered my question
mostly because if I had a question, someone else likely had the same question at some point of time, and it was normally already answered.
I agree, there are just some answers I cant find by myself from other places. 10 years was enough for SO MANY questions to be answered. I understand if they don’t want to let us preview these posts anymore but so many of us used them for references as well. If they were still previewable I’d have them as my number 3 most used after advanced tutorials.
Just a reminder that the “Google search and press Cached” method still works even now, just use incognito/private browsing mode.
Over time there will be more useful answers in the public sections of the devforums. I’m already seeing devforum results returned. Ideally we will get just as useful answers on the devforums as the original forums and you won’t ever need to use cached pages, but that may take time.
It auto-directs me .5 seconds into the page. Not enough to scroll down to the answer and screenshot.
Use incognito/private browsing mode. It only seems to redirect if you’re logged in or something. I’ve amended my original post so that the advice is accurate.
You should also be able to use “Text Only” to get just the text and no redirect scripts.
Hi @EmeraldSlash,
In specific, are there (or were there) any pages on the old tutorials page that you’d frequently search for? Things that you found yourself doing a Ctrl-F (Find) for most often?
IgnisRBX
This was the main one; it’s often obscure bits of documentation like it that I search for.
I’m not sure if there is already, but could there be like a proper place to find documentation on the chat system and anything else with hidden documentation (that’s not a tutorial, to be consistent)?
These are also quite useful:
The Lua Chat docs in particular are a bit weird. I don’t really want the big main tutorial page, I want the docs! I don’t see any easy link to the documentation though; I have to search for it or stumble upon it. Why are there not links to the two below pages at the top of the Lua Chat page?
These links are incomplete, the full docs are found at
and
Both are linked to the Lua Chat System page which should be in the tutorials section.
The Client API link is the same, but the Server API is not. The Server API page you linked is actually the one I was looking for, and the fact that I couldn’t find it is evidence towards my point. We both agree; these pages should be linked somewhere so that they’re easier to find.
Thanks for the links!
Speaking of which, I’ll try to have my notes for 327 out sometime today.
I’m very busy with college and the work that I’m doing at Roblox right now, so I haven’t been able to get them out on time recently. I’m going to make a serious effort to get them integrated into something officially released on the public board as soon as I can.
Would making them official result in experimental features not being listed in the change log/release notes? For example, if they were official, would the work-in-progress PluginGui not be mentioned?
