So I assume the official term is the like button, however I don’t think the name of it is a big thing. Just call it whatever you like most so long as everyone understands what you mean.
On top of that, the HTML element has tags like “unliked svg icon” when referring to the unliked like button…
… and “has-like” when talking about the liked like button…
… and the activity tab calls it “Likes” ( votes is something else):
It’s definitely supposed to be the like button.
Do you know what - if any- part of discourse uses a vote system? if yes, does It differentiate from the ‘likes’ system? its only so confusing because the same icon used for likes, is placed next to votes, but not next to likes.
Voting is a plugin, it doesn’t look like the Devforum uses it for any public categories. The difference is that you can only vote a certain number of topics ever, instead of a daily limit like Likes have.
Of course it’s the like button.
Whenever I’m about to meet the maximum amount of likes I get a message saying “You only have a few likes for today.” And when I do reach the maximum amount of likes it says “You’ve reached the maximum amount of likes.”
I’ve always called it the “updoot” (see where this is going? Yes I’m too used to Reddit’s upvote/downvote to oblivion system) button, informally that is, otherwise, I just go ahead and just call it a “Like”.
