What's the difference between the script and local script?

I’m new to scripting and I still don’t know the difference between the 2, any help?

LocalScript
The local scripts runs on the client. Any information that is displayed here will only be visible to that specific client. Such as GUIs, when you open up one, it uses a LocalScript and will only be visible to you.

Script
The normal scripts runs on the server, which means, information that is stored or updated in this script, is visible to the whole server, every client. It can be leaderstats, datastores, etc.

I’m a very new scripter, and I created a simple script that created a part and positioned it to the players torso when you pressed the key E, and I was so confused as to why it wasn’t working. So I created a local script and pasted it in there and it worked which confused me even more. How am I supposed to know if a certain code I’m looking to make will require a Local Script vs a regular Script, or vice versa?
