Will devs ever not need to pay for membership?

This is straying from my point, which was that DevEx isn’t so Roblox can make money from developers (directly), it’s exactly what you just said - it provides incentives for developers to work. They pay out $350 at least, which would not be happening without DevEx.

Also, pretty sure it’s a thing so developers monetise their games, not so they make them.

Please stop trying to argue that the OBC requirement is a cost-saving measure. It’s not. The OBC requirement is a floodgate for manpower, and not cost. Roblox has already personally said that they never want to charge developers, and we’ve already seen this happen over time:

  • Everyone has maximum place limit
  • NBC developers can be paid without 90% tax from group funds
  • Group taxes don’t change from 30% to 90% after owner loses BC

When you argue that BC or OBC for developers is a revenue source for Roblox, please realize that Roblox is no longer the building platform it was in 2008: we are hugely dwarfed by non-developers, and most of Roblox’s revenue is coming from players purchasing Robux for games/cosmetics.

The revenue made from developer incentives are mostly negligible, and removing the OBC requirement from DevEx fits within Roblox’s vision of “never charge developers”. Please stay on-topic and address that the floodgate is monetary / the logistics issue of lifetime OBC or no floodgate.

I still think it should be required for the first devEx, and if successful the first time, or maybe even 3rd sucessful devEx, it’ll remove that restriction. This way, devs that continuously devEx don’t have to keep OBC.
