Deep hierarchies in the explorer prevent clearing the selection

The selection boxes for items in the explorer are as long as the longest visible item in the explorer. Normally you don’t notice it because there’s always space to the right to deselect what you have selected, but this is not the case when you have a deep hierarchy of items visible (or an object with a long name I guess):

If that seems like it would never happen since it’s absurd or something, here’s the hierarchy that I experienced the issue with:

Deselect All by pressing Escape

I’d like to be able to configure how far each level in the heirarchy is displaced, similar to tab width in the script editor.

Finally… this was a problem I had a while ago, and could never figure it out, thanks for reporting it.

Can’t you click on the left edge?

Nope – clicking left of it selects it. The only way to deselect something is to click to the right of it.
