I really loved the old format of egg hunts like most of the people here do. You guys should listen to the community. The majority part of the player base prefers the old style of egg hunt over these dev hunts that feels like a chore. There are several things wrong with this idea and I would not go through all of them. However, I don’t think the old concept of egg hunts are gonna be back any time soon, so I would suggest some things that would make these devhunts a bit fun.
-Platform Support
2020 had some games that didn’t support mobile but instead, they would get the egg by just joining. It was a good thing but it would be better if the developers could create another challenge exclusive to mobile/console players like Wild West. But some of the games in 2020’s dev hunt was accessible through these platforms but the controls were not meant for mobile/console like Ski Resort and Bad Business. It would be better if the games included controls for these platforms like Epic Minigames and Arsenal.
-Controls and bugs
Speaking of controls, Flop recieved heavy criticism last year for having the worst controls in the event making a lot of people frustrated and a lot of games were laggy for people with low-end devices. This event can include more QA Testers so everyone could get the eggs without any problems.
-Storyline, theme and hub
EG19 had a hub but it was poorly made, There weren’t much details but the worlds were great. However, EG20 didn’t include an official hub. People had high expectations when they saw leaks from Eggify and it turned out that it was just an april fools game and everyone was heavily disappointed. Maybe this event can include a hub that is relevant to the theme of the event. EG20’s theme was Agents of E.G.G and turns out that the only thing that was related to agents and stuff was the eggphone (and some games had references like Texting Simulator) It would be interesting if you included a storyline or maybe a boss like EG18.
-Ways to obtain the eggs
This is the main part. Having a fun way to obtain the egg would make the event interesting. During dev hunts, people need to hop onto different games, complete the tutorial if there is one or get used to the controls of that game. Most games didn’t support new players in the past egg hunts like TDS. The concept of getting that egg can be creative and not too easy or too hard and not like “kill to get an egg” or “win a normal round to get the egg” and not take an unnecessarily long time for something to spawn. I was disappointed when some games were a bit pay to win or you needed to be a pro in that game to get the egg. I have a lot more things to say about this topic and I don’t feel to share them at the moment. What I want to say in short: ‘There can be a creative way which is relevant to the theme of the event to obtain the eggs in the chosen games’
-Special Eggs
Another thing that got many people frustrated is the ways to obtain the Eggmin, Developer egg and the Influencer egg. It was easier to get as few people joined games with large servers but most of the influencers had their joins off and if it was on, the server would be probably full and streaming the giveaway made it worse as people want to appear in the Livestream. Most of the admins are inactive and influencers most of the time, don’t server hop and people don’t leave the servers. Maybe the launcher can be put on sale like EG18 and EG19.
I have only mentioned a few ways that could make this event better and I didn’t include criticism from Egg Hunt 2019 as EG20 had improved and I am hoping EG21 would be better than the past dev hunts. Even, if its a dev hunt, I am a bit excited and the RB Battles and RPT event gave me good hopes about this event! Thank you for reading.
