„Dying Sun" - Space Real-Time Strategy Game

Please consider using the “What are you working on currently?” topic!

Hello, I’ve created a game called “Dying Sun” as in title. The game is set in an alternate reality where the sun has exhausted its hydrogen reserves and is turning into a red giant, consuming everything in its path. Player’s task is to save humanity from the sun that is turning into a red giant and consuming planets on its path. To do this, the player must colonise planets and moons to harvest their resources and create an interstellar colony ship to evacuate humankind to another star system. Here is the link to the game:

I’m planning to add a few more things to polish the game, that is the main menu UI, and the victory screen for when the player succeeds at his task and in which he will have a choice to play in the new star system in sandbox mode. To name the most important changes.

I want to know what you think about the game in general and if possible in detail. I want to know if I should continue developing this game, if it has potential, or if I should do something else instead.

I really don’t know what you are doing in the game.

You should locate ‘Earth’ first. Once you do, click on it and you will be welcomed with a building menu. Then you can choose either to expand your metal/deuterium production, construct colony ships, or build solar mirrors. Metal is needed for building while deuterium is needed for spaceship fuel. Colony ships are self-explanatory, once a ship is constructed, select it and click on a planet you want to reinforce or colonize. The solar mirrors on the other hand are there to make your planet more habitable and more protected from the temperature of the sun. It works the best for planets that otherwise would have been in the ‘Yellow’ zone or border of the ‘Blue’ zone of habitability.

Is there a reason it’s not supported on mobile?

I guess it’s okay if you haven’t gotten to making mobile support yet.

Yes, it’s because I haven’t tested it on mobile yet and I don’t want to publish it on platforms I haven’t done anything to support them. Although a mobile port is coming.

I updated the game to feature experimental mobile support but since I don’t own a mobile device that supports Roblox I can’t playtest it myself, which is why it’s experimental. The game can now be played on mobile devices, to move around the solar system swipe across the screen to where you want to go.

  • Fixed the event log not reporting planetary destruction

Alternate reality, more like the future. Scary stuff. Glad to see another upcoming Sci-Fi game. While I can’t play it now I’ll check it out soon.

Do you have any plans for GFX?

The game’s thumbnail you mean? I would really love to hire someone who can make a good thumbnail for this game, though the only artists I could find that can make thumbnails are those that make simulator and obby GFX, let alone the fact that they’re doing it for 3D games while this one is largely 2D, and the atmosphere, genre and theme is completely different. I’m not saying that their art is bad, just that I don’t think they could make art for my game.

You could try browsing community servers like on Discord for GFX artists, that’s how I usually find mine. I’d show examples of their quality but they’re lost to time as I paid for them and never used it, lol.

Can you recommend me any servers?

I no longer use Discord due to people attempting to steal my account but I think the website Disboard allows you to search for public servers. You can just type in “Roblox GFX”

I’ve created a community server for players to report their bugs and talk about the game.
