1 or 1+ Players for story genre?

Hello everyone! I am Dusk, and I have a question for you all. Would you rather paly a one person or multiple player game for a story type genre? (Story Backround, doing quests, finding clues, talking to npcs all to find what youre looking for)

I am asking this for player experience purposes.
Personally I think players would get bored doing it alone, or simply want to play with a friend.

Depends, if the story is extremely scary make it one player.

It will be an adventure type story. You will have to travel across a map to learn what happened to yourself (this may not male sense but i dont want to give away my whole idea)

I agree with this. I’ve heard that it’s not a good idea to make a game 1 player because players can easily get bored. People like playing with friends.

If It is not horror multiplayer would be good.

Horror game = 1 player would make it more scary but not always fun but other then that I think it would be fun with a group of friends.

The option between single player and co-op is always my favorite

Sounds like for your game the ending will be important. If that’s the case then you don’t want a player to finish it then come back to the game to spoil it for others or just tell people where to go. I’d make it 1 player only.

I see your point. Wouldn’t spoiling the game be as easy as going onto twitter or other roblox games though? I know this is a reach but its possible.

People wouldn’t spoil the ending on twitter or on another place because chances are no one who sees it is ever going to play your game. When they spoil it in-game they’re ruining it for all the people who are about to experience your game.

A bit harsh, but thank you for the input ^^ if i make this game atleast 20k will go into advertising so im sure someone will see.

I think, if possible both options would be great. Personally I know a load of people that love playing story based games on their own, however at the same time I know loads that will only play with friends.

I think the most important thing to remember is that everyone is slightly different, and the more people’s traits you can provide for, the more people you will have wanting to play your game.

I wasn’t intending to be harsh, but when someone posts something on twitter completely random people will see it. What are the chances these completely random people would ever happen to play your game?

I would go for two. One is too little, because simply, the majority of Roblox players play because their friends do. However, if you do more than two, it’s not really a story game anymore.

Would this be reliant on both players contributing?

Just dont make one of those like 50/50 player ‘story’ games. those have been copied so much they are like a new genre.

but 1 player sounds good for this game.

Yeah! I think it’s an awesome feeling to play with a buddy in a story mode game. Man I remember in 4th grade when I used to play Pokemon Brick Bronze with a buddy of mine. We would come home every day and just explore and have fun. We played the game for like a month and a half, and it was honestly hands down the best month I had in Roblox.

Two players just adds to the whole “adventure feel”.

yeah, maybe they should do like a game where u go solo or have a lobby of friends. we need more games like that on roblox.

I hope I can be the person to make one!
