1010 - General feedback

Hi. I released a game called 1010 last week. It’s been generally well received and I wanted to show it to you guys and collect feedback from here. I actually have a google form that you can fill out!

Specifically, I wanted opinions on the monetization. You earn Stars (currency) when you play that you can spend in the shop on crates that roll a different colored “theme” for your game/board. Rolling a duplicate gives you 50% Stars back.

I sponsored the game and didn’t earn a dime back, (not that I expected to - the purpose was solely to get players) only making a couple sales.

So I figured monetization was a concern I should really try to address. Obviously buying themes for your board isn’t as compelling as pets and other stuff for your avatar in other ROBLOX games, so I’m not even sure how salvageable this is. I’m totally aware that hypercasual games, single player games, yada yada, don’t make much money on ROBLOX. But I was wondering if there was something in particular I’m doing wrong here with my monetization scheme because people don’t seem to be compelled to spend money. Maybe earning stars is too easy? Maybe I need to remind players somehow that there’s a shop? I dunno.

Also, I’m pretty sure the CTR on my sponsors were bad. How’s the icon look?

Hey! First of all, I want to say that I played your game recently and it was pretty fun. The UIs were very well done.

I think the problem here is that players don’t really have a reason to spend money. Themes are only cosmetic. Don’t get me wrong, cosmetics can be really good if done right. However, I think that your game is missing the social aspect. In games like MM2, I can show off my skins to my friends, and trade them. You also made a good point that single player games don’t make much money.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Heya.

I really like this game, the music is decent and relaxing (although you can hear it pan out and in on loop).
Its pretty simple, looks good, but does get a little stale after a while.

I noticed though that about 10-15 minutes after playing the game tanked down to around 20fps.

My desktop is is in the upper-mid range specs so I shouldn’t be experiencing issues.
There was no errors in the client logs.

Anyhow, keep it up dude.
If you can find a way to make this two player, I think this would become really interesting and intense!

(e.g., Both players have to fill in the same board, or if you add ‘special’ bonus blocks that appear randomly in the grid, whoever gets the most special blocks within a time limit wins).

Hello!

~MONETIZATION~

I have some ideas that might possibly increase the payments.

  1. You earn stars too easily. Reduce it by 50%.

  2. For a casual game like this, you need to understand that 95 R$ for 1,000 Stars is too much. Reduce the start price from 95 R$ to 30 R$, then do the calculations for the other products.

  3. You might as well reduce the donation price from 25 R$ to 10 R$, this way more people will be intrigued to help with a small donation.

  4. I would also advice you to put your main developer products that you want to sell on the player’s screen (left/right side) to boost payments, but don’t put too many (3-4).

All of these should boost your payments so that you get back some revenue that you spent on sponsoring.

~CTR~

You were also asking about the CTR of your sponsored game icon. Well, the CTR is quite…low.

For the game icon to gain more clicks, try to go with a bigger ‘1010!’ logo, and some sun rays + gradient in the background that goes well with the logo.

This will boost your CTR from 0.37% PC to around 0.45-0.60% PC depending on it’s attractiveness.

Is CTR measured from 0 to 1 instead of 0 to 100 or something?

0.45 to 0.60 still seems extremely low.

Most of the time people already have a game they intend on visiting when going the games page, so its to be expected

Your CTR is extremely low, I can normally do around 1-2%. You should work on improving your advertising by grabbing peoples attention, and getting them intrigued.

I am sorry to disappoint you, but having a CTR of over 1% is not really possible at all with sponsoring.

His CTR is not extremely low, but it’s still low.

A decent CTR would be around 0.60 - 0.90% PC.

The CTR is measured from 0% to 100%, but having it more than 1% is almost impossible through sponsoring.

Advertising has more CTR than you would have with sponsoring, but there will be less people seeing it in comparison to sponsoring, so the clicks would pretty much be even.
