Hello everyone!
I have been working on this simulation type of game [Not a simulator] like a couple of months. I used Gaia Data Release 3 around 1.8 Billion light sources and very precise measurement of individual stars, I don’t need this much stars, I’d just query small portion of the sky and take screenshot.
The game is becoming laggy really fast if you had hundred thousands of stars but, the results is really worth it. Unfortunately, the interface is not really user friendly maybe, you can mess around and figure it yourself. (I will add tutorial soon)
Note 1 : Every individual stars is real, you can see with your eyes and amateur telescope.
Note 2 : Not all stars is not actually star but it could be a quasar or distant galaxy!
Here’s the screenshot I take from the game recently + making my pc cry for help (Last image is really ahhh laggy compared at the top) xd
The widefield image above is Hyades cluster the closest star cluster to our Sun. Aldebaran easily seen at bright orange star at the center of image. Dim star cluster on the left is NGC 1647
This is the Orion constellation with constellation lines and grid
Bright star cluster Messier 41
Zoomed in image of Milky Way galaxy
This is what the UI looks like in the game.
Large map of our galaxy and its spiral arms easily visible but, the map doesn’t complete map entire galaxy because of the dust obscuring our view
- Some screenshots in old version
Image of Milky Way galaxy in older version [The UI is not like this]
Large Magellanic Cloud visible in southern hemisphere
The game is currently in alpha version so you will encounter bugs and glitches, I only make this game at my free time so the development is kind of slow.
