Everytime I go to input the code sent to my email it ALWAYS says its invalid

Whenever I go to my profile settings, it says that 2 Step Verification is OFF, and it won’t let me turn it on. However, if it really is off, why does it keep asking me to input a code?
(I want to use 2 Step don’t get me wrong, but right now I can’t even turn it off to fix the issue for a moment 
)
