2-Step Verification triggering even when the email security codes option is turned off

When I tried logging in to an older account of mine, I was ‘greeted’ by a 2-Step Verification notice.

On one of these accounts I was able to figure out the email used for it by swapping through multiple addresses and finally finding the right one. I did not remember ever switching this feature on and indeed, when checking my security settings, the email verification codes option was not enabled.

On another account where I received this message on however, I do not recall what email I used for it and all those years it wasn’t a problem until now when this message popped up.
If I had known this pop-up would suddenly appear years later (despite me never having turned on the feature in the first place), I would have updated my email to a different one that I still use and know.

Has anyone else been getting a 2-Step Verification message despite the feature not being turned on?

And does anyone know what I can do to log in again or to migrate this email to a different one?
I remember the first six letters of the email and what’s after the @, but not quite the second part.

you said it was an old account, maybe roblox did that as a security measure.

Could be. When I tried loggin in to the account I did remember the email again I did not receive a 2-Step verification anymore. When it happens is rather confusing as I do remember logging in to one of the accounts tied to the email I forgot about maybe 1-2 years ago without any issues.
Perhaps it’s a measure only added ‘recently’
