Frametime Spikes with gun system

Problem that I am experiencing

  • Frametime Spikes happen typically when a player is near or is currently firing a gun.
  • Frametime Spikes seem to be random making it hard to identify a cause
  • Frametime Spikes only happen from use of the gun system
  • Frametime Spikes seem to change based on your hardware specs. In the video I show below, the frametime spike is very major, however for high-spec users, it lasts a shorter amount of time but is noticeable in combat.

When did this start?

  • This issue started happening around a month ago.

What have you tried doing to fix this issue

  • The first culprit I thought of was too many bullets being cloned at once causing frametime spikes, so I added a delay to when a client can visualize a bullet. (as bullet visualization is done on the client)

What gun system do you use?

  • The gun system we use is a heavily modified version of FE-Gunkit. More details can be given about what’s being used if needed.
