3D Sunlight for 3D Planets

I would like to make sunlight come from a big sphere, heres an example of what light should do:

How would I do that? (The planet is 30000 studs from the sun)

use a surface light? or point light idk its name

It has 60 stud limit for the range

Try using a beam for the sunlight, as for the light, use a spotlight that aims at the earth. It doesn’t have to come exactly from the sun, just put it close to earth’s surface and use the beam for the 3d sunlight instead, just a play of illusions. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

both great ideas, ill try soon

earth is too big for it
it wont work

if you replied to me then try using bigger part

What doesn’'t work exactly? 30

the light isnt big enough

that wouldnt work, light comes from the center

:man_shrugging: try making it smaller and attach multiple pieces closely

Have you tried using SpotLight?

Honestly, just make everything smaller and it should help a lot. I don’t think that practically there are many reasons why things need to be so large and so far apart - it’s not like it’s actually completely accurate anyway, and because of the limits Roblox has with part sizes, you could make have the actual scale and relative sizes if you made them smaller.

ever heard of performance? and it will take time to do that

its gonna be like universe sandbox 2

If you use a spotlight it wouldn’t work but use instead a SurfaceLight it will do this:

But when you use this item make sure you are using the right face so it doesn’t light up the stuff above or left or right but underneath

Go to iron man simulator 2 and press q pick mark 33 suit and fly side ways for 50 sec then you will reach outer space so compare the size of that earth vs your earth

What your doing is very on the limits of Roblox, your lucky your able to make a planet that large anyways.

thats what i said
…

When I did something like this I didn’t rely on lighting at all, (since in my case I rendered everything inside a viewport frame). I used a half-sphere to simply black out the unlit half of the planet.
