The menu is supposed to have a kind of gloomy, purplish style to it. I don’t think green would fit very well but I do agree that something with the coloring is off

ok maybe you should make it dark blue or dark purple or even a muddy brown color then

I’ve changed the background image, made the buttons have a slight brown tint, and changed the titles background color
I think this looks a lot better, but I feel like the buttons still look odd
how come “TILES” is the first one? Shouldn’t it be play?
TILES is the name of the game. The frame is bigger because it is the title

OOOHHH, well in that case you should make it so there is no backround for it and make it higher up, and make the play button big
I don’t think that really looks right, anytime ive ever made UI (im not a professional ui artist by no means), ive always made menu buttons all the same size, and title the same size.
If you look up the word “Game Menu”, nearly all other menu’s with 2 buttons and a title follow a similar idea.
I decided to try this anyways, and I’m not very fond of it…

maybe you should make the play background as the tiles background was?
You should make the background more lit, more colorful because it’s look good in my opinion.
As you can see a lot of games have an 8-bit style have some colorful neon effects reflecting the 80s. But if your game does not have that style then just make more color to the text and the button. You should check other 8-bit indie games for ideas.

I made the background a little brighter
I like this, the only issue is that now the buttons and title are starting to blend in more
