A Cruel Christmas - Finale

Another thumbnail, made for my friend’s video. Previous thread can be found here. Experimented slightly with shading. I know, it isn’t Christmas, but it still relates to the previous video in a way. It premieres at 5:00pm at GMT, and I also made a bit of music (which I am not too proud of). It was made in about 30 minutes because I have to go somewhere. Please leave your criticisms in the replies, I would be more than happy to look at them.

Temporary Thumbnail

It isn’t really attractive and won’t catch the viewer eye for him to click on the video. Too dark.

For example, this will get views because the thumbnail is attractive:

Spoiler: It did get over 32k views and 300 likes (also because it is a tutorial).

The thumbnail is honestly better than the temporary thumbnail. What I love about the thumbnail is the atmosphere, the “glossy” in the shading, and how it sets the mood of what the story is about. Well done!

Could you elaborate? You’re stating that:

but you also say that:

which contradict each other.

Oops yeah, I meant “isn’t”, sorry for being confusing…

No worries. I can see how it wouldn’t be appealing to click on with the lack of text, big, red arrows, etc. And I made a better version where it’s a bit more brighter.

Brighter Image

This is already a bit better, but you should add text so the viewer can immediatly know what the video is about. You can use canva.com to make thumbnails easily.

If the character is supposed to be running, make the pose more exaggerated, like more angle in the torso and the arms and legs flying farther out

Also make the light on the character a bit brighter than the background, and depth of field is a cool effect to add if you want.

It’s a nice thumbnail though and I think it shows the idea of the video nicely

This GFX looks VERY good! Nice job on it!

I agree, it looks better already.

Adjusting the pose and increasing the light on the back of the character will be more appealing.

I felt like revisiting it one more time. I added most of the suggestions said here.

Below are two images that the lighting plays a very crucial role in.

The last photo, by dephz, has light shining on the back of the character to create that glow from all different kinds of angles. This creates a very unique effect, whereas having one plain light (or multiple with the same settings) cannot do that as effectively.

The first photo may fit your theme better and provides an example of what I mean. Hopefully you see where I’m going with this. In your GFX, there is no back lighting and to me it seems like the avatar is a sticker.

I really like what you’ve done with it so far and it’s very creative!
