A few improvements and additions for my dashing game project!

Heya, DevForum! I’ve recently started to REALLY work on my dashing-collectathon-platformer-thingy game. I’ve been working on a new level (mostly for more tests but will be integrated into the demo/testing phases of a full release along with the sewer level “Waterworks”).

Here’s what I’ve been working on so far for it:

Rooftops Level (WIP)

Still a WIP, this level will be set on numerous rooftops of city buildings. Kind of like Mirrors Edge, if you will. You will have to jump from rooftop to rooftop or even from dangling supplies being hauled by cranes! Notice the graffiti, too. One of them is the dashing logo and the other is graffiti of my indie game character!

Flamethrower Trap

This trap will damage you instead of instantly killing you when you tread over it! Every few seconds, it will unleash a stream of burning hot fire that’ll REALLY roast your behind!

Better Trees

Thanks to the Windshake plugin and my epically cool 3D modelling skills (citation needed), trees are getting improvements! I will need to make more variants, although those will come at a later date!

Low Health Effects

I have been working on a low health effect. Right now it activates when under 50 health for testing purposes. It will be lowered to 25 when I feel like it is ready.

Hammer Obstacle

WHAM! Better not get in the way of this hammer, as it’ll crush you (and your friends, if they’re unlucky) to death! It is styled after a cartoon glove holding a cartoony hammer. I wonder where that glove came from, though…

That’s all (I think)! Working on this game is incredibly fun and actually gives me something to do rather than… well, nothing! I have so many plans for this game and I can’t wait to share them with you all when I get there!

Of course, feedback is always appreciated. Thanks!

The leaves on the tree (at least the flat parts of the leaves) are all, well, extremely flat. In addition , the flat parts are also randomly placed around the leaf. From another perspective, it’d look fine though I could go in and quickly fix it.

Thanks!

Also maybe you could make the player go slow upon gaining low health, along with animations to make it look like the player is actually injured. And for the cartoon hammer, maybe you could make it so it goes a bit back then it hits, along with making the animation a bit smoother.

I’ll most definitely mess around with the hammer in a separate testing environment!
