Wood Grain Tutorial
When building, for some wood grain is the last thought. For some, they don’t even know what wood grain is. Wood grain is the direction wood goes based on the length of the plank. Without visuals it can be hard to understand wood grain, as I did not understand what it was when it was first introduced to me.
Below this text you will see an image of correct wood grain.
Though below this text, you will see an image of incorrect wood grain.
The difference is noticeable. The grain of the wood should flow the longest length of the plank. Hopefully you understand now.
Managing Wood Grain Efficiently
It is not that hard to manage wood grain if you just started your build. First you should rotate your parts so the texture of the wood grain is flowing the longest length. If you made mistakes and want to fix your wood grain, install this plugin. Now with the plugin enabled, click on wood parts that have incorrect wood grain.
Why it is Important
Implementing the aspect of a realistic wood grain into your build will make your build flow with the user more. In real life, wood grain is usually correct because the direction of the wood may depend how strong it is. Because of this, incorrect wood grain can just look off in a place. I have been in real buildings that have incorrect wood grain. Whoever made that wood surface should sit in the corner for 5 hours and genuinely think about the impact that has on their structure. There is a legend that looks over all of us every day, its name is WoodReviewer. You have incorrect wood grain and this legend will make sure you won’t ever have incorrect wood grain again, let alone even be able to hold wood again. Do not learn the hard way.
So in Roblox, the same rule applies. Use correct wood grain when you can always.
