I’m not sure where to post about this so I’ll list it here.
The following behaviour can be observed in very simple game such as a baseplate. Essentially, if you open the microprofiler, there are section where the CPU time for a frame is as little as 3 ms and others where it can be up to 30. However, nothing special is happening.
If you pause the microprofiler and observe, there is a lot “empty space” where no CPU time is being used up and there are some random scheduled tasks, such as FMOD and RakNet spotted around. Using an FPS unlocker reduces this empty space but it still exists. Some screenshots are provided below but they are over bloomed due to HDR (sorry for that!)
