A Tribute to Super Check Point

I’ve always been fond of Super Check Point. The new version, half as much, but it’s all magic277 could do (if I recall correctly, Super Check Point Revamped was already in the works and he had released it early). Ever since 2019, when I joined it while hanging out with my cousin, I’ve always wanted to make a fangame.

And I did.

It took a few games in between, which I may remix later, but at least it took just two instead of some crazy amount.

So I was wondering… if anyone who had played Super Check Point (its old or new version) would want to see what I had created. It took quite a bit to progress to the point of making an entire game instead of a low quality obby, but here we are!

And yes, I’m asking for criticism. I could make this quite a bit shorter, but I’d rather give some information than immediately say “Play my game… NOW!!”

Please don’t say “this game is bad.” or anything of the like, pinpoint an exact issue that I can correct so that it’s more enjoyable.

P.S. in a few months it’s this game’s birthday! luckily the map has only had to be redone once.

I do handle some things on the client, but I don’t really care too much about cheaters in my games (unless it gives other players an unfair advantage, which this isn’t some sort of fighting game, so… :person_shrugging: )

Also, it isn’t supposed to be a sequel to any Super Check Point games; it’s just a separate world.

I’ll give it a try and give an honest opinion soon!

Thank you! And me being completely honest too, I won’t really be offended if people say anything negative about it. I do not have much developer experience anyways (me being young), but I feel like this is a good attempt at making a functional game before jumping into any projects like an FE2 game.

haha, no worries, but you should also attempt at making your own ideas and make them into a game.

Oh, I know. Maybe during the school year I’ll come up with something while sitting around. Not sure. :person_shrugging:

I’ll play it for some time and then give a review, enjoy the premium payouts ig

Just to let you know if it wasn’t clear, it’s a work in progress. There are 30 stages planned like most other Super Check Point games.

alright, I think I’m already done tbh, I cannot bother to finish the game 100% but I’m pretty sure I finished most of the game.

What I would recommend:

If not already planned, I would recommend a tutorial
or a tip when a new feature is shown (Those jump boosts, or those plates that pop up stuff like that)

I was kinda confused when those Jump boosts (or whatever they are called) were somewhat outside the map at the first stage

I was also confused with the “Character” option.

I like the animations and the music, I was confused at some parts (Haven’t played Super Check Point except when I was younger) but overall a good game

I would give it a 7/10 or an 8/10

  1. The Modes GUI hints at trying to use your character’s ability, especially for Default.
  2. The game is meant to be learned; you are supposed to fail a few times before figuring the mechanics out.
  3. The characters really are just different movesets.

4?. Tainted Default is actually a reference to Psychocats! …while normal Default is not the entire thing.

More explanation: If you haven’t played the new Super Check Point, this is basically a mix of an older obby, Super Check Point, and the 2017 Check Point Championship game with orb graphics from the new Super Check Point. All of the versions of the orbs are nearly functionally identical, although canonically in this game the orbs have slightly different functions and are smaller due to it being a merged world instead of a created? world like Super Check Point.

The Lava Jump Orbs outside of Stage 1, upon reaching Stage 0 give you a special effect/‘amulet’ called ‘Infinite 25’ which, for the current life, uncaps your HP and sets it to 25 and disables checkpoint healing.

Oh, I didn’t know the characters had ability’s?

Yeah, there’s a Modes menu with that tip inside the GUI. I forgot what it said, but it says something along the lines of “Try clicking as different characters or hold click as Default! (P.S. try double clicking and holding as Default for a surprise)”?

Later, I’ll probably be merging the character and modes menu.

Also, maybe I’ll compose my own music for the game? Not sure.

It looks pretty cool! I am going to give it a try later in the day.

I really enjoyed the game well done. the animation where really good in my opinion.

Keep up the great work!

Most of the animations come from Super Check Point, but the Sku character’s dash animation is mine.

Update: The game is finally finished! (…sort of.) I’m not editing the original message for it, I’d rather glue this on than change the entire thing. All of the last stages have been added. However, I’m not sure if I’ll add secret stages aside from Stage 0. It might be a possibility.

The game has been picked up and heavily revamped!! It’s not the exact same game, but it contains content from it and will likely include a mode connected to the older game.

Thank you to anyone who tested OL:R before Check Point Mania.
