Ability to delete devforum account

There should be an easy way to delete your devforum account with the click of a button or a private message to a bot account.

I believe this should be implemented for the following reasons

  • It should be easy to erase all of your replies and activity on the devforum for privacy reasons
  • You should be able to restart your profile
  • Better alt management. I want to add my alt account to my main email, but if I do that I would be unable to access the forum on both accounts since both already have a registered devforum account.

I want to also add that a Right to Erasure request for your Roblox account does not actually delete anything tied to your DevForum account: your user, profile picture & bio get changed/deleted but every post/topic/link stays up for the public.

I don’t know how Discourse works but being able to truly erase this data upon request would be nice.

You’ve already posted it publicly for everyone to see? It’s likely it’s been shared around and archived dozens of times by that point. Unless you accidentally submitted PII, I don’t see why content should be removed for that reason.

This argument doesn’t make any sense. If you want your posts removed for any reason, you should be able to do so.

This should probably be posted on Discourse and not DevForum…

Essentially, what happens is that people generally prefer to use the anonymise feature. If Roblox was to delete all of a person’s content on the forum, there might be a lot of gaps in stuff.

There is a way for you to delete someone’s entire account and posts, but it then means you’re left with a lot of deleted posts. This is how it appears internally:

This isn’t really a topic for https://meta.discourse.org. Discourse has features for staff to delete a users account, however Roblox only currently deletes/anonymises a users account when a GDPR erasure request is sent to them for the entire platform.

You’re able to delete your DevForum account by doing a “Right to be Forgotten” request, however then you’ll be doing a complete Roblox account deletion as well. Which I’ll be real, isn’t very legal with in GDPR and there should be a separate option, if you wish you’re able to to make an out of court dispute against Roblox based on Digital Services Act.

But why do people even delete their accounts in the first place? Just stop playing roblox. Leave your history as it is.

Oh I thought Roblox does the same thing as what Discourse does because roblox uses discourse

Correct our stance is as in the thread above.

One thing I’ve found is in the forums from like 2013/2014, some users have been turned into “anons”, so I wonder if at some point you could delete users.
