Any update on this? Sorcus the difference is what’s most attractive, being able to buy them straight from the webpage is a cool convenience on ROBLOX. The page of the game (thumbnails, video previews, description, stats, commentary) is just another part of the game itself and I think the more you can interact with it the better. It’s also nice that the Game Passes have a designated purpose of being 1-Buy, I just find it a convenient concept.
But I think the biggest question is, is it a problem? (why not?) If it’s something we want and it’s not a problem to do then, why not?
Well, after you hit 8, you just filled up two pages of game passes (each little slide holds 4 IIRC.) I doubt people are going to be looking through a third page to find a game pass – you’re better off making your own awesome UI for sales in-game.
IIRC = If I Remember Correctly ^
I think if people are browsing through passes, they’re going to go on till they find what they want, kinda like looking for something on the catalog?
Each slide holds 3 btw, and that’s actually kind of a nuisance I thought it was 4 as well. 4 would be awesome admins <|:)
If they’re browsing through gamepasses that means that they’re certainly playing your game, at which point you know they will go through your store. If you have a flashy shop like Guest Defense did, you’ll be rolling in cash in no time. Game passes are good because you can put those 9 most-likely-to-sell items in everyone’s face every time they go to the game page, but if you put a whole catalog there, people aren’t going to want to look all the way through it. You’re much, much better off having a flashy shop in your game that displays the 10th,11th,… gamepasses better than they could have appeared on the site.
What if it’s paid access and they want to look at game passes to help them decide if it’s worth buying, or just in general want to look around, see what the game’s like? They browse with the intent of browsing or buying or seeing what they could save up for and maybe other reasons, not JUST buying.
WEll, that’s preference, and I prefer webpage shop.
Bro if you’re browsing you’ll go until you can’t, the size of the store can be big with no problem. -unless there’s a technical size limit.
Then maybe we can increase the amount per page, or just have a shop tab simplifying everything. It’d be cool to have dev and game pass products on the site. For now i’m more for just having 4 per page and more gamepasses. But ultimately I can’t find any other problem but a possible technical size limit. If people want to browse, they will browse
I’m surprised that no-one has brought this point up yet: Real stores like the AppStore don’t let you make infinite “developer product” like things in your app either, so I don’t find it particularly surprising or unusual that Roblox does not.
I don’t like saying one thing is right in doing so because an advanced kind is doing it (apple does “this” so roblox should also do “this”), I’m more interested in why they do it. I’ll guess that it puts a marketing challenge on the developer by having a limit, to encourage “less is more”, but I don’t see that being necessary in this case. The case of “having a shop”. Sure there can be a limit but this one (max of 9 GP’s) just seems small and unnecessary.
My inherent feeling is that the developer products have superceded gamepasses. And gamepasses were an intermittent solution. I understand what people saying about it’s right on the page. Why is the purchase occurring at a level where you can’t even verify the purchased item? I think that’s not ideal. I would want to move all purchases for a game to be done within the game.
