Ability to prompt in-game user to join group

Its 2023 and the platform now has a client with lots of features that connect experiences with the website, this feature would be useful.

This would be great to have! It would also help us make more Robux as if a Premium Player is in-Game he doesn’t have to rejoin to play

Bumping, this feature would be amazing.

Necessary feature, would aid in smaller development groups gaining traction.

Agreed, there are no negatives to this.

We have already gotten multiple features regarding in-game prompts that have become very useful in the past year.

This would be nice due to the following reasons:

  • Not having to make the user manually join the group, sometimes becomes a lengthy process as you will have to rejoin the game to register in-game perks (if there are any).

  • Group growth will become much easier, as if it were like a button press prompting you to join a group, you would get members way quicker. Good for Group Plaza type of games so you don’t have to search up the group to join.

  • This would be a positive for the roblox community as a whole, as being able to do this can expand growth of groups with a click of a button which would be so much more useful.

I also agree with the following features in the post below, would also be useful with these permissions.

to hit on that ‘lengthy process’ bullet, example issue i’ve got is that my group has special characters in its name, meaning users cant look up the group to join (unless they know exactly which special character, rare case)

linking it outside of the experience defeats much of the purpose, as a. mobile users can’t easily switch tabs without interrupting their game and b. many users see it as excessive just to join a group while already in-game.

as of right now, to give group titles/exclusives users would need to; join the game, see the ‘join group for benefits’ display, close the game, go to the games description, join the group, then return to the game page and rejoin the game.

And yet no progress on something which frankly would increase the useability of the platform excessively. I think frankly, for younger audiences it is already difficult enough to try and understand the website - let alone reap the benefits of being a part of your favourite game’s group.

We already use website APIs to handle groups, it is barely even a single stride to integrate this into a game ready service - frankly I know this from my time during my degree. With the talent of all the software engineers in the company, I’m surprised no one has addressed this yet.

I remember those suggestions of adding anticheat to roblox :skull:

Took them more than 6 years to do that.

Going to bump this again, this would be a really cool feature to see, especially seeing methods and events such as PromptGroupJoin and PromotGroupJoinFinished coming into the user experience. It would be beneficial, especially with the aforementioned language barriers as well as mobile users not having to leave games, deserting progress to join a group.

I designed this little modal, something which it could look like and how easy it would be to use for different players. Not sure why this is a feature that’s been neglected for so long. I think the GroupService API has needed a bit of a level up for a few years now, as has been previously mentioned, ranking people from ingame, exiling users from ingame and group bans.

Possible Prompt

One thing I would like to mention is that any group prompt that is made should not assume that the group is connected with the current experience. Many users may prompt for groups they do not own and treating some groups differently creates an inconsistent experience. It should also not assume that it is a community group, with a group wall or any rank above ‘Fan’.

Wasn’t this something that was discussed at RDC years ago? It’s unfortunate it still hasn’t happened, this needs to come soon.

Love this idea! It’s devastating to see such a community wanted feature be ignored for years. . . wasn’t this discussed at RDC too?

This feature would bring so many advantages to group based games! I’m surprised it hasn’t been added yet.

This feature would be super beneficial to so many games. Really hope Roblox looks into this!

Bumping this…

With all the next-gen features getting added last few years (ex. skinned meshes, rigging, … group renaming, etc), it makes no sense such a fundamental & essential feature is still missing from this platform.

Believe it or not, ROBLOX, but many genres and communities completely revolve around groups for everything… as they have since groups were released so long ago. With few exceptions, it seems the groups feature in general has gotten little love in recent memory, especially with small QoL updates like this one, which, IMHO, is just frankly incompetent on ROBLOX given groups’ vast potential, ubiquitous use and presence, and history to this platform (animated faces before this ??) This request’s been sitting on y’all’s desk since before half this playerbase got their ‘Earth’ (IRL) accounts made :hatching_chick: so i please hope it’s addressed and added promptly for the benefit of literally anyone who wants people to easily and seamlessly join their communities.

Thanks,
dev chrysalis (deviaze)

Also pinging @EmeraldSlash since he’s og friend and probs can get this pushed upstairs

Roblox is lacking so much when it comes to groups, little things like allowing players to join groups from in-game and giving them roles would make a huge difference

How about something like this? https://twitter.com/stablestream/status/1723459555600863495

+1 Vouch.

This feature would be useful to connect users directly to communities where they can engage with fellow players who share the same interest in the experience.

I can agree,as I help program some of them,I hearthat many people have to leave the game just to join the group which, sometimes people end up just never playing again, which doesnt help for my dev-ex,so I agree highly about this feature and hope to see it early 2024

Bump this!

Its an overall win, Roblox Groups that provide customer service would highly benefit from this.
