Able to upload UGC accessories above the mesh and texture limits

Reproduction Steps

1. Ready a regular, rigid accessory (NOT layered clothing):
– Use a MeshId with more than 1200 vertices
– Use a TextureId with more than 256x256 resolution, such as 1024x1024
2. Right-click the accessory and click “Save to Roblox…”
3. Choose the corresponding asset type of the accessory and click Next
4. Type a random description and Submit

Expected Behavior

After step 3, the accessory should undergo a validation step to check whether the MeshId meets the required 1200 vertices limit and whether the TextureId meets the required 256x256 texture limit.

Since the readied accessory has more than 1200 vertices and a texture resolution above 256x256, a “Validation Failed” warning should have prompted that the accessory is above both limits and should have prevent you from proceeding to step 4.

Actual Behavior

Instead, what actually happens is there is no warning prompt at all after the validation step to enforce the vertex and texture limits. You are able to smoothly proceed to step 4 and then fully publish the accessory to the Roblox catalog. Wearing the published accessory in games load in the full mesh and full 1024x1024 texture.

Example of a published UGC accessory with more than 1200 vertices and a 1024x1024 texture:

I hope this is taken care of soon. Should people start uploading high-poly or high-texture items to the catalog it’ll have a detrimental impact on performance for many people.

Thanks for the report. I filed a ticket to our internal database.

Sorry for the late response here! This is intended. Texture limits were intentionally raised. thanks for the report, I’m going to close this one out.
