Abnormal increase in client crashes over the last couple days

On 3/24 at 1:30pm CDT, our game Combat Arena started experiencing an unusual increase in client crashes. Attached graph in the staff-only section for reference.

The one update shown on the graph was a minor server-side patch that I don’t believe had any effect on this, as there was no noticeable change for over 24 hours. This leads me to believe it must have been a platform update that went out around that time.

There is no unusual activity in our error logs or client memory usage charts. I have yet to experience the crash myself in order to retrieve a client log of the event.

Please let me know if there’s any other information I can help gather. This is time-sensitive and having an effect on our players.

Okay I was able to reproduce the crash locally and I’ve got more information on this one. Analysis of the crash report dump (through WinDbg) shows an invalid pointer error.

I’ll attach all of the crash files that were generated to the private message.

Additionally, every time it happens is right after the player’s character is loaded.

Hello? Anybody out there? Aside from degrading the experience for our players, I’m pretty sure this constitutes a possible security vulnerability in the Roblox player executable.

Even if there isn’t an immediate solution, it would be nice to get some acknowledgement that this has been seen.

I’ve been having the same issues recently on my own game, I honestly don’t know if its cause of my own code or because of a roblox change.
Let’s hope we get a reply soon.

Bumping as this continues to be a problem for our game and others are apparently having issues with it as well

I got a friend who talked to roblox staff and they told him it will be patched when the client updates

This post has been marked for Needs Information, can I get some clarification as to what is needed? I’ve provided crash report data in the private message associated and in a DM to @narheas when they reached out to me. I haven’t gotten any updates since then however, and that was almost two weeks ago now.

This is still a problem for our game, and my attempts to avoid the crash have been unsuccessful so far. I’m willing to work with staff in whatever way is needed to get this solved, just let me know what you need.
