Achieve this shading

I’m planning to make a thumbnail for my game and I wanna achieve this shading for it (got this from the video “Roblox studio”

How would I do this. I mainly use photopea rn so if there was a way I could achieve it that way that would be awesome
Even the name of this type of shading would help so I could do my own research

I don’t know the name of this shading too, but the closest thing that I use to achieve this in photopea is by pressing on “Image” in the top left corner and then on “Reduce Colors…” (you can experiment with the color slider to see which one works best for you). Not sure if this is what you wanted but you could check it out.

this helps for simpler stuff cuz i also sorta needed this for tool icons how ever it barely reaches the same expectations when actually looking at it how ever this tip did really help so thank you!

Hmm… All I can think of is brightening the ambient/outdoor ambient lighting values so it isn’t so dark by default (or tweaking the exposure attribute in the Lighting service), setting lighting type to Future, and setting the shadow softness to near zero. Unfortunately, the shadows might look pixelated when doing that due to the low resolution they have.

im not talking abt in studio or in game but rendering it on a different software like photopea

Ahh, my bad. I misunderstood since you mentioned “Roblox Studio”, I wasn’t aware of it being an exact specific video.
I’m not familiar with Photopea, but since you are asking for the shading style, it’s definitely a type of cell shading. I’ve seen this specific type of cell shading with very soft, silhouette art style used in some artwork and even low poly games, so it’s very likely it has a more specific name, but cell shading is probably a good start.

[EDIT] Some examples of this type of shading are games:

  • Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
  • Lethal Company (However they have stronger shadows)
  • Journey/Children of the Skies

i found the name finally its called single cel shading or flat cell shading. both types would work for me

I recommend for you to use Blender to achieve this shading. You can do it with a simple Shader nodes setup

If you want the lighting to be fully “flat” detach the ShaderToRGB node from the MixRGB node

For rendering choose EEVEE as its the fastest
To get a noob model just export one from studio and import it into blender.

wow thanks a lot ill download blender in a bit to test it out if my computer doesnt crash

If you want to achieve cell shading on a flat image in photopea all you need to do is select the object you want shaded (magic wand) and then deselect everything you dont want shaded (lasso tool on subtract)
image

(And then like use the fill tool to color the selected part in)

Posterization may help on Photopea!
