This is a different kind of update, not so many YouTubers have uploaded video’s about this yet. Not any YouTuber’s fault today.
There is this game called Juke’s Towers of Hell
There are 9 rings, each consisting of around 10 towers
each of these towers have 10 floors
each of those floors have background music that far exceed 6 seconds
lets see
9 * 10 * 10
thats 900 audios
Im not even COUNTING the 5 zones
and the subreams with steeples that have around 5 floors
you do not know how much public audios are utilized
I fully agree here. Roblox should’ve given a lot more notice for a change this big. This update is going to drain audio from a lot of games. Not having to pay to upload audio is nice, but if the price to pay is the entire catalog of audio being broken then it’s just not worth it imo. In terms of copyright this is a good move. It just would’ve been a lot smoother if we got more notice and time to adjust.
Couldn’t have said it better. The Roblox staff working on enhancing Studio has made amazing improvements to it, but another part of Roblox drops these garbage updates like Talent Hub and ID verification requirements that don’t benefit anyone.
It’s important to remember though that there are a ton of external factors affecting the company, so Roblox shouldn’t be blamed for everything. Apparently, there was a legal issue that caused Roblox to make this decision, but there are much better ways to act against copyright issues instead of making all audios private. Roblox should run all sounds through an AI that detects copyright, similar to what they did when they cleaned malicious scripts from the toolbox.
I also wish Roblox accepted more feedback. I spoke out numerous times about my disapproval of the verification rules on the Talent Hub, and so did many other developers in feedback categories, but it seems like Roblox picks and chooses what they want to add in their platform. Oh, and I also hate the idea of Roblox being a metaverse.
Not to mention, it’ll take 9 months to upload all of thus if ur verified, that’s the amount of time it takes a baby to be born. If you aren’t verified it’ll take 90 months. WAY TOO LONG! Lets say you’re one of the few lucky people who got 2 k per month, you try to upload the songs, everything seems fine. OHH WAIT, what about roblox’s perfect moderation team? Yeah lets hope that you dont get flagged for the audio and dont get terminated by roblox’s well programmed bots.
ID Verification is good for upcoming 13+ only games. Roblox said this at RDC.
Thats what I was worries about. Its my favorite game and I have tried to make towers and fannade lobbies. I even made a fangame but thanks to roblox I dont have the time to reupload all the audios. My computer storage would die too
…because we don’t trust what Roblox does with our IDs?
There’s currently a class action lawsuit against Roblox for breaking some sort of privacy/transparency/disclosure law in a US state (I forgot which one) that was related to the ID verification system that Roblox provides, and considering it’s related to privacy, many people are not going to risk having their ID leaked to hackers, and possibly become a victim of identity theft/fraud.
Plus, Roblox is already pretty well known for having lackluster security with accounts, 2FA, etc., although they have been getting a little better in the past few months.
And also, even if you do verify with your ID, it is still a very tedious task to download and upload 100 or more audios just so your game doesn’t break. It’s just something we shouldn’t be forced to do. Plus, it could be much larger than 100, maybe even 200, 300, whatever the hell it could be.
The point is, we shouldn’t be forced to download and upload audio just so we can use it, nor should we be forced to potentially risk having our ID compromised to hackers.
Also, about this, it’s more than 10 towers per ring. There’s at least 240-ish towers in the game, so it easily passes 2,000 audios.
Leaked Roblox moderation bot code
if Roblox:IsInappropriate then
Roblox:AllowAsset(true)
elseif Roblox:IsAppropriate() then
Roblox:AllowAsset(false)
Roblox:TerminateUser(Uploader)
end
sorry if im looking a bit like a nerd there but they would most likely use python for their moderation bot mostly because it is the industry standard for AI
That is indeed a problem, even if not effecting the majority of games. I honestly don’t understand the need for making all audios private, people are well aware of their own privacy and can manage it themselves. They made their audios public after all.
I feel like we are in a cycle. As with many updates, Roblox makes a stupid decision and faces huge backlash until they eventually modify/revert the update when they realize everyone hates it.
I’m not ID verified, but I have 2,000 uploads per 30 days. I wonder why, is it random?
Everyone, I urge you to message: Youtubers, Big (and small) Roblox developers and Roblox staff to get this fixed. If we get enough Youtubers to make videos and enough developers to protest, we can make Roblox revert this. We can shut down all of our games until they undo this.
Roblox needs us more than we need them. We can switch to other platforms. If we leave, they’ll have to revert it. They’re nothing without us, they need developers. If we all fight this and work together, we can force Roblox to revert this! Please, message anyone you can, developers, youtubers, Roblox staff, even just your friends. Spread this for everyone to see! We cannot allow this unacceptable change.
Nah, their using a rock for their moderation bot
but wait, it gets worse
we got the steeple music which is 5-6 floors
we got the normal winroom music
the winroom music for all the soul crushings
the lobby music
the music for all the previous events that you can go back to
and even outside of jtoh
imagine the countless amounts of jtoh fangames that are out there
ITS A NIGHTMARE
this is funny
Yep, thats me right now lol. Im gonna quit working on it because of this update
Thats dumb, we’d have no income, even if u do this, not enough people will do it, resulting in u losing money and plrs for nothing. Once u come back up not as much people will play as they would’ve found another game.
Doesn’t this mean that games that contain boomboxes and music playing and are mainly about these functions are going to be discontinued and thrown away
Does this affect boomboxes?
