Retrostudio is also hit incredibly hard by this, it’s basically a tiny Roblox on Roblox at this point, and if the audio change happens as is then no games on Retrostudio will ever be able to have custom audio anymore, as the developers of Retrostudio have to own the audio for it to be played.
The only music boomboxes will get to listen to is Roblox music for awhile if this is added
Like I’ve stated several times before, I don’t understand why this update is being heavily disliked. I believe this is one of the best features to be added to Roblox yet. For small developers like me, I can’t simply afford paying about 1000 robux on audio a week. Also, the new uploads limit is nice, it prevents some users from posting more audio than they should, dependent on certain stances. Anyways, having to reupload everything is a pain, but none of us are alone in this. I have to reupload about 150 audio assets again.
I’m not sure, I’m wondering if it’s random.
McGown et. al. V. Veriff et. al (roblox)
I did however praise roblox when they did release a Biometric Privacy Notice because they should have published one to begin with but didn’t, and as a data privacy advocate it was blatantly violating federal statutes.
I also agree the update is fine and kind of expected. The only thing that is ridiculous is the max 10 upload amount for non-verified users.
this is exactly why we dislike it
things this effects:
community driven games where you submit zones that require background music
boomboxes
thousands of discontinued games
and a lot more I am unaware of
its also a cheap solution to a lawsuit and could have been handled WAY better
…Roblox is providing an audio library for us to use. This is intended to protect smaller developers. Roblox cannot legally keep the audio in the catalog if it breaks copyright rules. By adding this update, it deters copyright infringments. You act like I’m not a small developer and that I have infinite money - this is not the case. The reality is that just because the audio is currently on the catalog now does not mean the original uploader’s wishes was to have it that way. Roblox is providing a fair solution that helps both sides. Does it suck in the short term? Yeah, it does, and change often sucks but it must be done for the future of the platform. Just like VC, just like ID verification, just like many of the updates that were hated at first.

(The timeout makes it hard to reply to each individually). I don’t disagree with your argument that the update sucks, it does, but it has to be done, whether you like it or not. I used to be part of a community that did nothing but hate on updates like you guys do, and it’s toxic and awful to be in long-term. I respect that the platform has obligations and interests and I think you should think long-term.
Hopefully you will double down your efforts on the long term of audio privacy and marketplace.
I always found it hard to find good quality audio anyways, this is hopefully the opportunity for a better start for the marketplace.
Edit: I’m also super excited not to have to pay for audio uploading anymore
I’m not a verified user though, still has me stumped on why I have 2000 uploads but they come in very much need to me as I just uploaded 50 new audio assets in these past hours.
I don’t understand? Discontinued for what? Because a audio can’t load…? I don’t quite understand.
They mean games that were discontinued a while ago but its hard for new players to enjoy without sound
You get 2000 after a successful devex
what I mean by discontinued games were games that the developers are no longer working on (before this update)
I also found another game that this effects [the real] RoBeats Community Server v3.13 - Roblox
rhythm games aren’t going to enjoy this LOL
But as long as the creator of this game uploaded the audio, there is no problem here.
A single sound missing won’t permanently ruin a game. If lucky enough, some discontinued games may have had their audios uploaded by the owner of set game, meaning the audio won’t be going anywhere. Anyhow, a single audio missing, even two, or three won’t greatly impact or “destroy” a discontinued game. But I do understand where you both are coming from.
No, I don’t.
I have never devx’d in my life, infact never reached over 25k robux at a time.
I don’t know if Morgan and the team understands or not but this here is what we all have issue with for the most part. They shouldn’t release this update with that ability UNTIL they have the solution made. Thats just poor development procedure to release something just to pause a component like the ability to share audio until you can finish the update.
People have been saying they have never cashed out, but still have 2000.
I apologize
audiO?
Not this time, I’m afraid.
We’re not talking about a feature but a legal obligation.
