I doubt that you even read the post.
And that what is?
Game development is hard on any engine, (and even harder on Roblox because of how much they limit you and how bad their debugging tools are) just because some platform is lets you use their $10 servers (which also kills off the ability to make singleplayer games) doesnāt make it automatically easier
Roblox has said nothing and probably wonāt. So it is looking grim, but hey there is always a chance Roblox does something good.
Hurray free audio! Only at the cost of every. single. game. to be completely mute or almost entirely mute. Millions of games only use audio from other creators. Think about the thousands to millions of developers who havenāt updated their games in years, of all their creations will be mutilated from this change. all games that do not have a extremely active development team will be absolutely ruined. This will cause immense harm to millions of games. Privatizing the entire audio catalog is a devastating change, and the unfathomably short span of only 2 weeks given is absurd. This is single handedly is the most atrocious, most undeniable, worst āupdateā in the entire history of the platform. The fact that this mortifying decision was put into action without any developer insight sends chills down my spine about what horrors could top this disastrous change. I surely hope the best for any developers who are trying to coupe with such dastardly changes, this may be the most stressful 2 weeks for them in their careers so far.
A positive update is always paired with a negative update. There is ways to contribute greatly to a platform, and there is ways to tear it apart. Doing both, when one heavily outweighs another, makes the other worthless.
Okay so,
this will stab me very bad.
I develop aircraft and have around 65+ sounds on my main account uploaded, but my aircraft are located and used on my group, so now i have to upload 65+ sounds for litteraly none sense because you can use your own sounds for your own group
Same problem, bad news is that this is working as intended according to Roblox :I
Rip roblox theme songs. I do not know why these songs are not included in the library.
Iāve seen bad decisions made by ROBLOX and honestly this might have to be the worst of them. Newer devs or devs with lower income (like myself) donāt have the capability to actually be able to hire SFX artists to be able to help with games and a hefty amount of us donāt work on or specialize in SFX. Can you imagine the horror and pain current, bigger devs have to go through having to replace hundreds, if not thousands of audio, all because of a faulty moderation system? Letās be real, this āupdateā is just here to cut corners and not actually have to set up the means to actually review stolen assets from music companies. Iāve never seen an addition- rather a subtraction this big collectively bring devs together, big and small to this large of a scale to actively promote other game engineering software/tutorials, cause big devs to stop working on projects, and force others to leave the platform altogether. Thereās even troll accounts on Twitter making sense about this terrible idea coming into play. Iāve been on ROBLOX since 2013 and ROBLOX has done some pretty questionable(?) updates, but this has to be the worst of 'em. Letās not even get started on the removal of Categories.
Dude! This update isnt bad I finnaly can make sounds for free
Can you maybe go back and read the rest of the post? Every other audio is going to be effectively deleted and we have no idea when theyāre coming back. This is not a good update and I donāt know how you can think otherwise.
Yes, then what will you do after you run out of your monthly songs?
You canāt pay for any more, you simply have to wait.
Also consider moderation will eat up 50% of your song upload attempts with no refunds
You also cannot use any other audios you may have seen on the toolbox, because they simply donāt exist to you anymore.
At what cost? Iād rather upload songs for Robux if it means my game not breaking from nil asset IDs that Iād spend months replacing, causing income to slow. This is literally going to mess with peopleās lives if they rely on ROBLOX for income.
I dont care I didnt have the robux to make a one
I read it and this update is good in my opinion
Anyone in favor of this update just jumped to the replies after seeing the āfree sounds uploadā and didnāt actually go through everything.
The toolbox is very much a huge help, or wellā¦ WAS a huge help when it came to audios because other users could upload sound effects that others could use for their own games.
The model toolbox is very much a very bad thing.
The audio toolbox was a godsend that helped any developer who didnāt have the robux to upload their own songs, and considering how weāre gonna all be limited by a monthly system, we need it more than ever.
A shame that 13 ~ 16 years worth of already existing audio is going down the drain.
Ok, please donāt judge me, but I think that this update is actually really good.
For real, this is how Robloxās Audios should have been since the beginning.
As much as I understand (and I experience) the current pain of having to re-upload, if not remake entire songs and sfx from your game, we will get over this.
I know that finding audios for your game will be much harder, but really you can browse this infinite library of non-copyright songs on internet and just upload them to Roblox.
Audios being free to upload, the best change. Creating on Roblox has to be 100% free, not having to pay 350 R$ just to upload some random song.
Talking about Boomboxes / Radios, less songs to choose from, but 0 bypassed audios / earrape / loud songs.
bye
Perhaps if you took the effort to earn something through comissions, for example, you could gather resources to upload whatever you wanted. This will kill any upcoming project intended to be polished if the developers do not have more than 10 uploads a month.
You do not understand how this affects other people, nor are considering. Developers have ease to earn robux in comissions. Anything is better than this, providing you put in the effort.
I remove it Its good but I dont care about privacy and limits I can finnaly update my sound effects
This isnāt entirely true, since at some point audios will have the ability to be made public again. Sure youāll have a decent amount of time (possibly a few months) but bypassed and loud audios are bound to come back.
Keep in mind that music is generally not that much of an issue for Roblox.
Sound effects on the other hand were scarce enough as it was.
With this change, we have to pray to god that this upcoming addition to Robloxās sound inventory will be able to solve every single sound issue.
Because if it doesnāt? God help us allā¦
The main concern is justā¦
For anyone who isnāt an SFX designer/creator at least:
We donāt have anything to replace our current sound effects right now, and because of that everyone is angry.
It is also breaking the functionality of many games, and there ARE better alternatives to this nuclear option!
