[Action Needed] Upcoming Changes to Asset Privacy for Audio

Roblox has a weird way of saying that you own the audio. You need to upload the audio on a group for it to be considered that you own the audio. User uploads don’t count.

It is the audio file. You can use Media Player Classic (from K-Lite Codec Pack) to open the files.

If you instead want a clean file without the “RBXH” metadata, you can delete everything up to the “Timing-Allow-Origin:” line (using notepad++ can help) and save it as another file; that works too.
No need to download it.

This also applies to other assets in the temp folder, such as images, meshes and other various files that the client needs to cache.

As of now I have gone through all my games and counted over 2k sounds, almost all of them are over 6 sec so now I need to upload them but the thing is that I need to wait 1 month to be able to upload 10 more, this is bs!

Yeah I noticed that, I even tried that method out last night when it wasn’t valid and it worked but that confused me myself, But they should fix that issue and make a better post explaining how to work with this new system.

I really hope that ROBLOX reconsiders on this whole update. Maybe even fix it! I would love it if they made it like the update with the badges being free with a limit of uploads. And uploading more than the limit requires ROBUX. But for now, we have to wait and see anything new that comes from them sadly…

Why does my audio from Kevin Macleod become copyrighted
when it’s non-copyright and loyalty-free music?

This doesn’t make any sense

It’s automated… kind of like the copyright system on YouTube. I tried uploading a few I know are copyright free and the same thing happened.

Audios like wind sound effects and such got striked aswell.

I’ve seen someone getting their audio copyrighted for reuploading since they weren’t working as intended. I’m not sure why though and if that’s why the audio is copyrighted. :man_shrugging:

Literally going through EVERY asset on my group, and taking all my experiences private and making all gamepasses and shirts offsale. I’m boutta cancel my premium membership as well. I’m not giving Roblox any more money until they learn to listen to the community. This may be the fall of my clothing brand but I don’t care. Just trying to prove a point by taking all 84 of my clothing pieces down

This update is probably the worst update ever. When we didn’t like rthro, most of got used to it. But having little to no sound in pretty much ALL roblox games? Nobody is going to get used to this. This is a really bad choice and idea roblox.

Not to mention that the crap bot that handles copyright is so bad that it strikes my damn wind sound effects and even if an auto gets strikes it still counts as an uploaded audio!

It would be useful if they would show you what audio your sound matched to help identify if the system made an error.

Did ya tried something like contacting Dev Relations or mod review? If I’m not too mistaken, most of the music from Kevin Macleod are under Creative Commons Attribution, not 100% sure about all. I had one song I uploaded under that CC BY license struck down. (It is what it is tbh.)

Opinion: I think this update might cause a huge loss in player counts due to silent audio?

Wow. Nice and on time… Forcing me to make all these changes in less than 2 weeks. Like I’ve got nothing better to do…
