O-M-G-I-F-o-u-n-d-y-o-u-r-l-a-s-t-b-r-a-i-n-c-e-l-l-! ._. Pls no ban !
of course there aren’t 90 billion audios, the asset ID is only at 9 billion and that includes most assets (shirts, pants, T-shirts, decals, images, models, meshes, audios, games)
Not agreeing with the person you’re replying to but it’s much smaller than 90 billion.
Thinking over this for the past few days has left me feeling more and more bitter and upset over this whole thing.
It is such a cliche Roblox thing to do to take the easy way out, even if that involves selling out every developer in order to do so. Roblox is willing to destroy countless games and waste the time of thousands of developers by forcing them to reupload audios - and, in the case of them being licensed, going back through the process of proving ownership, a process that doesn’t even work 50% of the time - instead of extending the olive branch to it’s developers and getting their input on such a catastrophic change.
This sets a very clear precedent: Roblox will sooner sell out developers than they would dedicate any of their resources to workshopping this change and finding a valid solution that makes all parties happy - in this case, the music labels and the developers.
Roblox refuses to stand up for developers when it matters most - this is more than just an issue with audios, it is just the first decision in what is likely to be a consistent pattern of disregarding the concerns of developers and continue to make their lives harder just to cater to the frivolous demands of whatever company decides to sue them. It’s easy to get emotional and worked up about this because of how often this same thing has happened - being sold out by Roblox so that they have the opportunity to line it’s pockets even further.
Youtube and Twitch are both able to let content creators stream audio by having a valid means for DMCA takedown requests. A system like this could be easily implemented by Roblox’s 1,200 employee team, but instead they’ve decided to cripple work flows and destroy games just so that the platform looks more appealing to music labels and triple a game studios.
Though its a little obsurd why you can’t just click on the ID and it brings you directly towards that ID number, and highlights it so you can delete it.
This helps with certain ID’s in HUGE song lists. If that could be updated that would be another nice addition.
Love how we are left completely in the dark. No staff has actually bothered to visit the topic to give us further news regarding the matter or answer people’s questions. Even Microsoft Customer Support would respond quicker than this.
I’m Debating whether i should quit Roblox game development just because of this update, also 5 minutes later and the Roblox stocks keep going down due to a bad Roblox audio update being handled in a poor way
RIP ROBLOX
3,012 posts (as of writing) that are not deleted, and still no response from Roblox. I have a feeling they’ll never respond and just leave us in the dark. I wouldn’t be surprised if they deprecate & remove Sounds at this point.
