[Action Needed] Upcoming Changes to Asset Privacy for Audio

ok. I have already started working on fixing the music and sounds for my games.

I love how they don’t mention any of this on the Roblox website, and only to devs. Random players will be like “Hmmm I can’t hear anything. I wonder why”

Im quitting this platform lmao. Roblox only cares about themselves, not even any developer who made a game that is super famous. The best thing to do to remove roblox is to boycott or quit. Roblox will lose a bit of money but thats enough for a money hungry platform to revert it

Want me to tell you a joke? Imagine the Stanley Parable, but instead of Stanley; it’s Roblox.

Me, and tons of other developers will most likely quit.

Worst idea roblox has ever had.
Revert this, keep the free audio, refund those who paid to make audio.

Wich plugin do you use to download an audio since i need one

Yeah I’m also gonna quit unless they remove this change. It was too bad that I spent all this time learning

It’s called BTRoblox, it’s available on the extension store for Firefox and (i think) Chrome

I’m gonna miss all the classic games that Roblox just ruined without question. Survive the disasters, make a cake back for seconds, the normal elevator. These games aren’t being worked on anymore, so nobody will be there to fix them.

Jams myself back in here for one more thing.

Audios that are supposedly going to stay fine are those uploaded by the creator of a game.
And yet a lot of us (me included) are seeing our audios in games owned by ourselves with red X marks.

Do Music Box Covers Still Hits Copyright Rule, I wanna use it as personal use and even making music box with fixed selection of tracks :pleading_face::pleading_face:

This just reminded me of the iconic song that plays during the amusement park map in Natural Disaster Survival.

It’s just another reason along with a million others why privatizing all audios is a bad solution to a copyright issue.

If they ceep the update i will quit.

I wonder what happened to all those ANIME GAMES and Roblox just allowing DevEx exchanges for these games. There’s not even that many games that they need to review for DevEx but Roblox would allow these games to continue to DevEx because they’re earning money for Roblox. The only reason Roblox is revamping the audio system is not to “respect the rights of all content creators,” but rather because they were sued by others. So what does this say? You can only get them to respect content creators’ rights by suing them. Period.

I’ve read some of the discussion and I do not like this change. Free uploading of audio is a great change, and I really do not mind the monthly upload limit.

But, this audio asset privacy thing is something, at the very least, needs to be done in some other way that won’t break so many games on the platform that I have enjoyed, along with many other people.

It should be made so that existing audios are public and newly added audio goes private, but creators can change the audio to private if need be on existing audio, rather than just being forced to private audio if it’s longer than 6 seconds.

And we weren’t even notified of this change soon enough. If something like this were to happen, they should have announced this earlier, way earlier. Like 6 months or a year before. Two weeks to fix, find, and/or make new sounds isn’t suitable enough especially in large games.

Please, Roblox, it is in the best interest of the community that you either make existing audio public by default or reverse this change until a better solution can be found.

Having people upload audio with money before made it so people can reuse sounds, and help each other. Now its everyone for themselves

Plus, it’s even worse. There are literally tens and hundreds, possibly thousands of sound plugins on Roblox. They are not going to work anymore. Roblox should’ve really thought about it first.
