[Action Needed] Upcoming Changes to Asset Privacy for Audio

As a composer and sound designer I can tell you this is going to make a massive impact, firstly because lots of newer producer gets buiseness via HD discord and talenthub. Most of them (and there’s already not a lot) will be gone.
It’s not about how we upload it, it’s about how do we get the job, how do we find people that are ready to pay while they can get it for free.

I cannot Id verify, as I don’t even have one, so being locked to only 10 uploads a month makes sound design for my games frankly ineffective and useless even trying to do it. Why would you release such a rediculous change like this? I’d rather pay for my audio then have it free and being stuck with 10 uploads per month.

Read a few posts above yours, it has a massive impact.

I would rather pay for uploading audio than no more marketplace audio. Roblox’s audio doesn’t cover everything I want to use. This will certainly break my game.

WOW! First free badges and now free audio, Roblox is getting better!

This is unacceptable.

Roblox has been known for publishing some updates that were going to shake up the dev community, but nothing of this magnitude. Removing a critical feature for new developers and experienced devs alike to find specific sfx quickly and easily is against Roblox’s core statement of Powering Imagination, as now they have to use Roblox’s library which is not nearly as comprehensive as what UGC audios can provide.

Please reconsider this action. Thank you.

Just reupload the SFX, I really doubt a music artist will come after you for downloading a free-to-use audio they put on the catalog.

All the games that have been abandoned by the owner or aren’t updated frequently?
All the games who have tons and tons of audios that can’t be replaced by what Roblox offers?
All the games based on special tracks of music that aren’t posted by Roblox?
The golden Boombox that me and strangers used to play It’s Raining Tacos on Kohl’s Admin House?

All of it will be gone.

This is a very good change! Music can finally be implemented with no fees at all into any experience.

Also, just curious, what’s the monthly limit for audio creation if you are not yet verified?

I’m in a Team Create owned by someone else (main game). I have a separate place (owned by me) where I test and upload things to before I put them in the main game. Now I will have to get the main game owner to reupload all of my audios to the main game even though I have edit access to it? They have a 10 audio per month limit. That is definitely not enough. Developers should at least be able to approve their audios for certain games before the update rolls out. And what about existing audios where the uploaders are inactive/quit Roblox? Those audios will now be totally unusable by other people.
On top of that developers should be able to go over the upload limit by paying Robux using the old pricing system instead of being at a hard set limit.

Ten per month maximum.

My friend, who just so happens to have Premium, has 2000/month, though.

I have premium and I have 10 uploads per 30 days.

At the cost of not being able to share nor use other people’s uploaded open sourced (public) content, including your own. You cannot use audio uploaded on your account (even if you are the group owner) for your own group experiences nor vise-versa.

I am incredibly sorry to hear about that, I send my sincere condolences to you and those other composers.
If people are starting to lose contracts with other developers because of this audio update, I defiantly feel like it’s already doing a lot more harm than it is doing good, and it’s not even fully released yet.

Now that I give the uploading part iself a little more thought, that does seem to be a big fault in the commission that I thought of in my last post, but they mentioned privacy settings that would mean they could access it only if you allowed them to.

In case I’m not getting what you’re saying, either, there are plenty of places portfolios can be setup including services recognized by Roblox, meaning the links can be added to your account or group. Assuming that you’re concerned with discovery as a developer.

a better alternative to capping the audio limit at 10 uploads a month UNLESS YOU BUY PREMIUM (or provide id) is after you exceed the 10 upload limit you can pay to upload more audio.

Also why can’t we still use audio that’s literally inside our inventories? What was the point of ever taking audio then if we didn’t really own it?

Sadly it even happend to me, had a client tell me it will not work anymore because of those free audios, sadly it’s not only me, it’s a LOT of composers that aren’t working under contracts. Most junior devs and new games will be using this pack, aka 60-70% of roblox games.

What’s everyone heard that you’re in such a fuss about? I don’t hear anything.

Not a bad update; really thankful more removing the fees.
