I’m currently sitting at 100 per 30 days, instead of either 10 or 2000.
Overall, this is a loss for both developers and the Roblox community.
Yes, free audio upload is a good thing. However, the amount of monthly upload-able audios for non-premium users is too inefficient. 10 audios, as a developer, is not good enough to reupload all my audios in my game. Reuploading all audios I use (that turned private) is like adding salt into a wound. It will take too much time.
For example, in one situation, a non-premium developer has a game with 30-50 broken audios. It wouldn’t be much, right? However, I think 3-5 months to try fixing them are enough to kill user experience and lose players.
This limitation, in my opinion, will annoy/disrupt developers who could not buy premium. Instead, it should be 50 audios a month instead.
I’m just gonna record the audio and reupload it at this point.
Will meshes, models and unions be impacted by this in the future? It would be great as it helps to prevent leaking of assets.
So how is the amount of audio uploads per user chosen? I’ve seen people range anywhere from 10-100 to even the thousands. I have up to 2000 per month.
This is amazing but also bad.
Why is Amazing?
Well now I don’t got to spend thousands of robux for game audios or voice acting.
Why is bad?
Well thing about it. More inappropriate audios would be uploaded to roblox. And also all the robux we spend on audio before we are not getting back right?
But over all, I’m happy that audios would be free now. Since I have something else not to worry about. Now I can used the rest of the money for more important thing such as advertising or hiring devs.
Thank you Roblox!
Will audios already in the game that turn private be unusable?
if so then this is going to be a very difficult change
and if not then personally i think it is fine, people wont need to reupload their audios in their games, and they can upload new ones. there are some bad but i think its ok
i just think trying to filter the probable wave of random free sound is bad, especially if 1000+ bots all start to spam audios and get 10 free ones
that would be bad… uh oh
The line has been drawn. I am not going to develop on Roblox until this update is reversed. You’ll be seeing me doing web development.
could the privatization feature please be implemented in, like, any better way
While this update has its good and bads, from looking at it the bad outweighs the good. Myself, who heavily relies on music and sound design in order to make money within the platform will be heavily affected by this.
First and for most the big question here is, why would a developer shell out a decent size chunk of money on quality sound effects and even music in general when Roblox will be providing them with 100’s of thousands of options.

The SFX market on roblox will pretty much be eradicated leaving a majority of what I do down the gutter. Individuals already don’t understand the importance of how custom sound can be a better fit for your game and now this will make them further believe this if everything and anything is handed to developers. As I understand, yes this is massively beneficial but when making this update they did not look over individuals such as myself who do this type of work for a profit.

These libraries contain anything from foley work such as footsteps to your cartoon clicking sound which like I stated pretty much eradicates the need for custom sound work which puts many out of work and on top of that their will be even more options for soundtracks as well which once again will decrease the amount of people wanting to get custom music done for their games but will not affect it as drastically as it will with sounds.
Just wanted to go on a bit of rant to express my opinion as to how this update needs some work if they want composers & sound designers to stay on platform.
free audio? nice
creating another annoying update and destroying public opinion about your audio library? not so nice
Why 6 seconds? Sounds like an arbitrary cutoff.
Why in the world is it necessary to private every single audio on the entire platform when they were literally made public consciously and willingly by the uploader? The copyright detection system was already incredibly strict and was doing its job amazingly with 99% of all copyrighted audio on the platform being removed. Nobody asked for this in any capacity.
The ability to manage how your audio is used in games should have just been its own standalone change and should not have to come with the consequence of breaking the audio of EVERY SINGLE GAME on the entire platform. Absolutely do not understand the justification for this nor do I understand the justification for either the animation blending or materials updates.
No other platform has to deal with this sort of thing in any capacity and the fact that these changes can come literally out of nowhere and render hours upon hours of work completely meaningless just makes the platform seem unviable. This especially goes when the platform expects developers to go through every single game they own and compensate for these sorts of changes manually, being possibly hundreds of hours of work.
The current theory for how audio upload limits are set:
10: Default Account
100: ID-Verified Account
2000: DevEx-Elligible Account
why do i have 2000 per 30 days?
This new feature has positively and negatively affected a lot of us in many ways, but I believe for people who are owners of emote games like me, who use audio asset ids from all over the Roblox audio system, having to re-upload all of this is going to be a pain. Although I am very grateful for the 2000 uploads per month which will definitely help out with this new feature rolling out. Although I am most definitely not a devx eligible account. I’ve never reached over 100k earned.
Can’t wait for big game developers to upload more than 100 audios for their game just for a free charge of audio(s). Forcing developers to fix their own game because of something Roblox added, just like AnimationBlendFix.
I hope you’re right, 10 uploads a month is nothing. I’ll be less anxious about it knowing I get 2000 uploads a month when i’m eligible for devex
In conclusion Listen to the developers that actually cares about the platform instead of making things worse for every dev, we already have to be cautious of what we upload in case it has anything inappropriate! (even if it does not it could even be the name of the file) Adding this update could effectively make roblox devs quit completely which means that there will be less games on the platform and content for players. This is and was a terrible idea for roblox.
It doesn’t take much thought on my part to realize just how much of a problem this update will be-
The numbers simply do not work for me or the majority of developers expressing their concerns in this thread. For the purpose of retaining functionality in most games, the time limit has got to go. There is a large quantity of audios, which are longer than 6 seconds which will be effectively deleted under the pretell that the creators simply do not use roblox anymore. While it is fantastic that security features for audio will be implemented, it does not outweigh the amount of audio which will be lost in the roblox library for the foreseeable future.
Additionally, the upload limit of 10 is okay, but the ability to pay to add more is a requirement to not hinder legitimate development studios. I strongly urge Roblox Staff to reconsider the parameters concerning the audio changes.
