Currently making a 2014/neighborhood war style shooter game with active ragdolls.
Ragdolls need a sense of self preservation to feel believable to me. Programs like NaturalMotion’s Euphoria were the only ones to really take that concept and run with it, so I decided to try and shoot for something similar in roblox.
A person I used to work with (builderwaci) had made one in r15 which I then edited, but never got anywhere far with, and never really learned from, so about two years later (last night) I decided to write my own from scratch in R6 for my newest project.
I’m thinking about releasing it for anybody to use, for 350 robux when it’s fully fleshed out. It took me about 3 hours to make, and ended up being really simple if you just read even a little bit into how you can animate things in roblox.
I’m still fine tuning the ragdolls, but tell me what you guys think! (headphone warning)
(ignore terrible audio quality, my medal is messed up)
The ragdolls currently have stumbling, and grab their wounds, but I can add more states (falling, tumbling, writhing, etc) once I have the process for doing so streamlined, and the way the ragdolls work without reactions fine tuned.
Not to discredit your work, but it kind of feels “stiff” to me, but it might just be because I’m used to R15’s bendable joints. Still, looks pretty good!
I think the knee bending idea isn’t really good. Also going off topic a but but I also think that the bullet hole that you added on the screen simply looks awful and distracting. Other then that it’s good.
yeah i was gonna tone down the knee bending anyway, but i really like the idea of a visual indicator on screen for when you’ve been shot. not just a red overlay, but something really obvious.
i disagree with the no matter the decal part. if you look at mgsv, they made it look really good. but i agree it doesn’t look good here. still, i’m trying to showcase my ragdoll, not the bullet holes
hey i’m a little late to the party, but just wanted to say great job! i think it looks pretty good, and i bet it will get even better the more you work on it. i’m sorry, i also kinda agree with the bullet holes but i thought about it for a while. you said you wanted something like “visual feedback that you’ve been shot.” i agree that would be great. i think games like Halo and Fortnite nail this, with their visible damage sort of like pointing towards where the shot originated from. still, its completely up to you. great job!
Thank you for the kind words! I ended up changing the bullet holes to a cleaner image, which looks much better. I also improved the ragdoll stumbling as a whole.
dang that looks pretty good! excited for this game to come out do you know what you’re gonna call it? (i do think it looks much better than before btw!)
currently, its titled “Something About Shooting” and you can play it right now. It’s under my group “Cardineer Development Studios” keep in mind the game isn’t finished, and although I’m happy with the ragdoll, the gunplay definitely needs a bit of work
a story game for more realistic npcs. kind of a side project but i havent been able to figure out how to make these like you have. and id also be more than willing to pay a decent amount for this.
also this doesnt really matter but does this work with r15?
