I scheduled a campaign with Roblox Ads Manager today to start on March 2nd 12:00 AM GMT -8:00. I was testing the game a few hours ago and realized that it was already running. A bunch of players flooded my game that wasn’t ready to be played yet.
A bit of a weird thing did happen when scheduling the ad. On the confirmation page, it showed me that the start time was set to March 1st 3:00 PM GMT -8:00, which is when I assume the ad actually started. When I saw this, I figured I had input the time wrong, clicked “Edit Campaign,” and saw that the time was actually correctly input as March 2nd 12:00 AM. So, I decided to submit the ad anyway even though the confirmation page displayed a different time than what I had input. Since it was more than 6 hours before the scheduled run time, I figured I could check what the start time was after scheduling it and then cancel the campaign and get refunded if it was incorrect. When I checked the start time in the campaign editing menu, it was correct, so I figured it was just a visual bug on the confirmation page.
Well, turns out it wasn’t just a visual bug. The ad really did start running 8 hours before the input scheduled run time and my unprepared game was flooded with players, wasting almost all of the budget.
I’ve added my campaign ID in the field for private staff information.
