Title speaks for itself but why is there not a general category on this forum? Something for stuff that doesn’t I guess fit the other categories… Just general discussion, seems rather important to me.

It doesn’t really make sense for a general category to exist since this forum is for Roblox-related content. Most of the time, #development-discussion would fit your needs. You can discuss casual Roblox news or other non-development-related items in third-party apps like Discord.
WRONG. Development discussion is for “development” related conversation and sometimes certain conversation doesn’t necessarily fall into that, a general category is rather good idea – requiring 3rd party (while I utilize it) is extra friction added when can be accomplished within this forum.

Beforehand, I would like to mention that there is already a category that was designed to speak about Roblox-related or non-related things called #lounge.
#lounge has been around for years now, and it is only available for forum users with the “Regular” trust level. However, this category is not active and has much functionality if you were to compare it with the rest of the Developer Forum. According to one of the Roblox employees who assists Creators with forum concerns, Lounge is minimal and doesn’t align with the whole purpose of this website. Thus, with these factors, this category won’t be prioritized and/or will be deprecated:
So, overall, if you want to talk or discuss other things, you should use third-party social platforms such as Guilded (acquired by Roblox), X (formerly known as Twitter), or Discord.
If you want to use Discord and chit-chat with other creators, you can join the official Roblox Discord server that the Developer Relations team produced alongside top developers:
