As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to create publicly accessible announcements/update logs for games with multiple head developers.
This is especially true given the fact that we are not given many sites we can post the link to. I think the best solution to solve this issue would be to allow multiple users who have access to the DevForum to have the ability to edit posts under the #bulletin-board category.
This would improve my experience on the developer forum because numerous games have multiple head/high tier developers who frequently edit the game. If a developer was to add a feature, they could edit the update log. A developer notices a grammar mistake in the update log? They can update that post, fixing the grammatical error.
I have come up with an idea as to how it would work:
Original poster posts a topic and can grant or revoke access to users who have access to the forum to edit this topic.
Forum moderators’ permissions to edit the post can not be revoked.
Not sure if it’s possible but it would work similarly to a Google Doc, users will have a little tag to show their cursor position and their username. If it isn’t possible, they would be able to submit/publish a revised version of the topic. Previous versions of this topic would also be able to be shown.
Anyway, that’s my feature request. Thanks for taking the time to read and consider!
I’ll support this, rules for my community are pretty long for a single Discord message and can be ever changing, so we have to either split them across several messages, but what if we want to edit something. Now we have to wait for the author of the message to come back on, or we have to use a representative account (alt). Still seems like bad ux.
Or if this can’t happen, at least allow Google Docs links or something, or some other site that allows for collaborative editing.
Edit: these users could also be allowed to reply to the topic! So new feature = new reply, so for any dedicated users, they can watch the changelog topic, and instantly be notified of new changes
A better idea is to support a feature request for proper tooling on game details pages on the Roblox website for this purpose over using the game or group’s description. Bulletin Board is sort of a low-level workaround for getting information to your communities but ultimately it’d be much better for Roblox to officially support more information venues on the website than do something like this here.
Sages and Community Editors do not exist anymore. TL3 and TL4 are not moderators.
Yeah I agree. An on-site ability to create a description or update log and archive would be way better but at least the devforum opens up the ability to have an update log in any form.
My bad about the second part, I’ve removed that part from the post.
