As a Roblox developer, it is very difficult to communicate with all of my members in groups that I own without using any external applications, and even when I use external applications, most members will not have access to it or not know how to properly use it. If each group member were to get automatically added to an on-website group chat it would be an incredible benefit to my groups and other groups because I would be able to efficiently communicate with my members without them having to use external applications which are quite tedious.
I think the main reason people use external apps is because of Roblox’s incredibly strict filtering system, not because of the channel-based organization.
Roblox’s group chat system is already fine, considering the purpose of the platform is to play games or socialize, and not really to be a complex communication tool. Something this complicated also probably wouldn’t appeal to a lot of Roblox’s younger audience.
I think adding ranks to your group is just as complex as the channel system so it should not be so difficult.
I don’t think the main reason for groups to use external apps is because of the filter, -13 members in the group and lots of people who do not have the external communication application will be unable to interact with the group and lower the activity.
It’s already difficult to interact with <*13 users because <13 users have a more strict filter and most things you say will be filtered for them. Roblox is not known for its communication methods but rather its games. Just use Discord.
Discord is not efficient communication for groups, only few members in the group will join the Discord. With the new number filter for under 13 users this would be even more efficient. What if you want to host a Cafe training, a military event, or a gamenight but can’t get all your members into a Discord server? The group shout feature is not efficient in doing this as people will have to actively check the group if they want to see changes, this would allow group owners to finally stop using third party programs that are quite dangerous and prosper with Roblox chat.
Roblox has a track of reinventing the wheel, and many people are upset about it. I think this applies to this feature request as well. Roblox should probably improve the visibility of social links for 13+ instead, so that more people can join the Discord servers. Besides, if they don’t even want to join your Discord server, do you really think they’ll want to engage as much with the group? Discord is much easier for this, since everyone has it open in the background while they do something, and may not have a Roblox tab at the moment. So whenever a meeting/event is hosted, they can just @everyone to grab their attention.
Not everybody can join Discord, since the majority is probably under 13 they are left unable to interact with the group. Some groups have made it impossible to rank up without being in the Discord and this has had bad effects on the group itself. You see group games with only a few players and thousands of members probably because the group members are unable to interact with the group easily and efficiently. I don’t think making social links easier to view is going to help at all since most 13+ users interested in groups already know where they are. I have had multiple people in groups who engage heavily with the group but do not join the Discord probably due to age limitations. If they don’t have a Roblox tab open at the time then they probably aren’t interested in playing Roblox. One of my main struggles is trying to get communication with group members, this group chat system would benefit Roblox groups heavily and create a fun, safe, and efficient way for group members to communicate with each other.
