Adding pronouns to Roblox

roblox has the option at signup regardless of age to select a gender, also most parents dont pay attention to stuff like their children on roblox, so I doubt a anti-pronouns parent would actually take their children off the platform.

Throwing my hat into the ring here.

This would not sit well on the current day political stance, as many people have expressed. I will say though, for those who say this doesn’t have to do with politics, news flash, it does. All roads lead to politics in this day and age. Taking this from an economic stance, since it is so heavily political now, if pronouns are added it could easily result in a boycott of ROBLOX’s stock. A boycott that honestly, ROBLOX’s stock really shouldn’t get right now. This platform has enough problems as it is. Just look at the boycotts in 2023 and 2024 if you want references.

This also has a lot more to do with religion than you think as well. Religion has a lot of involvement in gender and sexuality, and it also has a lot of involvement in a lot of countries. Pronouns would probably also make it harder for ROBLOX to be unbanned in Turkiye as a result.

All in all, this has a lot more negatives than positives. Negatives that are unpredictable, and that can harm the company significantly, which will harm us devs as a result. It is not good to add something that has unpredictable consequences.

I somehow never thought of wording it like this.

I’m not against or for pronouns, my stance on it is actually fairly neutral or non-existent I guess.
Sometimes I use them, sometimes I don’t.

But I’ve always felt like that having them EVERYWHERE creates… expectations or forces a change of habit.
But I also totally understand people wanting to express themselves and wanting to be addressed properly.

I’ve seen countless debates about it.
I was never really able to make a stance or form a thought on it myself, I still cannot form an opinion myself.

When things get too complicated I generally keep a neutral view and just observe from a distance to see what everyone thinks.
This generally also helps me avoid conflict since I don’t have to show my agree-/disagreement to anyone.
