Additive User Interface

I don’t really know a better place to put this than Creations Feedback. I’d certainly like feedback, but it’s pretty late local time and I just want to post this somewhere so I can draw a line under it and get some sleep. Unfortunately, my choice of (highly artefact-ed) assets has got the instrumental version of Firestarter in my head, so that’s probably not very likely!

Anyway, additive UI -

The glitches are all in the rushed/lifted textures. The underlying solution works fine, and I’m definitely going to use it for something soon.

This post breaks the rule.

Anyway I did the dirty work and downloaded the video just to view it, and my feedback is … I have no idea what I am looking at, also the resolution is non-existant.

I can’t really tell what this is. It seems like it is just looping through images.

Converted with ffmpeg -r 30 to be watchable for normal humans.

This looks like an interesting concept for UI, but it definitely needs a bit of polish. It should be possible to use no more than 8 unique segments with `ImageColor3` to display pretty much anything (within the limitations of segmented displays).

It’s not a segmented display demo.

It’s an additive blendmode demo.

Perhaps this explains it better

  • Left - ImageLabel
  • Right - ImageLabel with some transparency
  • Middle - My additive blendmode UI
