Advanced blocked user

hello,
actually I’ve blocked only one guy, he was spamming my comment section with bad critisism, he wan’t nice to people and me.
But he’s back on my comments :c even if I blocked him  .
I don’t want to talk to him or see any of his arrogant comments on my games.

So I wish there was more options on blocked users, that would be nice.
I mean like allow comment, playing, following…

By the way what blocking people do ?

Thanks.

You personally not seeing his comments is fine, but no access entirely is up for debate as a developer could just block any user who does something they don’t like even when they have a valid point.

You’re better off turning your comment section off. The spam always outweigh the constructive feedback.

let me guess, bambusa?

A game with comments disabled always feels shady to me though.

Yeah, I don’t like the idea of popular games turning off comments. I think if you have over a certain amount of visits comments should be forced. You shouldn’t have anything to hide in your comments section.

Having comments disabled makes your game look worse than having spam in the comments anyway in my opinion.

Then don’t go on how you feel but rather use logical reasoning. I know many copied and bad games turn them off. The reason is obvious. But this doesn’t mean its the only reason. Litozinnamon has turned off his comments before on COR5. Comments are pretty useless until ROBLOX goes around to reforming things.

Thats assuming you have something to hide. But nobody said they had anything to hide. I don’t think it should be forced unless the user is paying for entering which is already the case. The spam is annoying and only makes things worse. I’d rather have them off until I have a viable usage for them.

If you have comments disabled on your game, I instantly get a bad impression. Sorry, but there’s really no reason to completely disable them - it’s not like the spam that gets posted is shoved in your face when you load the page, and games should have an outlet for the players to discuss their experiences.

I’m not assuming you have something to hide, by disabling comments you simply are hiding user feedback. There is a use for the comments but maybe not from your perspective as a developer. It is very easy for players to gauge what other players generally think of a game by looking at the comments despite the spam.

I see people complaining about spam as just an excuse to disable to comments to be honest, it’s clearly better from a players perspective to have them there.

yes… congratz :open_mouth:

Disabling my comment ? no way
Theres also good comments, like constructive critisism, also got some thanks, feelings about the game, ideas (…)
so comment section is quite important to me, just wonder if I could ban someone from my comments.

I’ve disabled comments on my games because they’ve just been filled with phishing links. I don’t want the less experienced players to be exposed to that and potentially have their accounts stolen. I totally understand the shady impression it can give, but I’ll take that compromise to protect at least a couple of accounts. If it were just regular “annoying” spam messages, I’d leave the comments open.

The comments section needs a big overhaul beyond just blocking individual users. There needs to be better anti-spam measures put in place and a system to bring the most valuable comments to the top of the section.

On top of this, the user rating is suppose to be a good way to gauge the quality of a game. Thumbnails and videos on the page can also help. I have to LOOK for user feedback on most popular games with comments. It’s not easy to tell with opinions because the spam heavily outweighs the constructive feedback. I use other indicators to show if a game is a decent game or not.
Survive The Disasters
Twisted Murderer
Mad Games
Death Run
Project: Pokemon
All have comments disabled yet I don’t hear anybody calling those games shady. It’s because it is fairly easy to tell if they aren’t the usual free modeled or copied game fairly easily.

Comments need an overhaul to be a true viable way of user feedback.

It’s not much of an outlet for discussion because you simply can’t keep up with other player’s comments due to the massive influx of comments. Most player feedback gets blocked out by spam as there’s no simple way to receive all valid feedback, but rather you just have to be lucky that the most recent comments has valid feedback.

Comments need a rework.

I think, if they do something like group wall, I mean like deleting posted comment (as the admin) banning from comments, would be solving some problmens.

After that if your game is front page; the comments are out of control… maibe 3 per minutes or more so :?
This would be awesome for litle games, showcases.

I agree that comments need to be reworked, but there is no other option at the moment - if you disable them, I only receive input from the developer’s point of view. Despite the rampant spam that occupies 3/4 of most comment sections, there are still players that post bits of useful information. If you disable comments completely, it looks like you’re attempting to silence the players, and I believe that to be worse than having to deal with a bunch of spam.

On topic:

I agree that if you block a player, you shouldn’t be able to see anything that player posts/does, including game comments. Unfortunately, I feel like the manpower and time allocation needed to make this happen would outweigh the benefits of the feature.
