Before I begin discussing the exciting news I have for today, I would like to start by addressing all the dedicated fans of Prison Life, both veterans and new players.
It is no big secret that Prison Life hasn’t been updated in a long, long time. Since the release of v0.2 way back in July 2014, the game has received about 4 major updates, with v0.6 being the latest version as of today. And that update was released more than a year ago. Over time, the game has accumulated many bugs and glitches, as well as the countless exploits that are rampant across dozens of servers and ruin the game for everyone. Of course, this is a massive time period without any sort of update or patch for the community, and for that, I sincerely apologize to the community and especially, to the dedicated fans of Prison Life.
With that being said, I have some good news concerning Prison Life.
Over the course of 2016, I have been working tirelessly on a new update that will finally revamp the game. This major update will bring two vital and much needed features: a whole new map, and most importantly, FilteringEnabled. This has been a massive undertaking over the past few months, but I am finally ready to announce the biggest update yet: Prison Life v2.0!
:: Prison Life 2.0 ::
So what can you expect from Prison Life 2.0? The game will barely be recognizable to the current game. Everything, from the GUIs and the brand-new map, to the controls and the tools that you use, will look vastly different from the current version of Prison Life. Despite the new look, the core gameplay will still feel familiar to you. The schedule systems, guns, tools, and other features work like the current game, just a lot better and more efficient than before. There are a LOT of other additions changes that would be too long to list here, like votekick, tooltips, character poses (like prone) and much more.
However, the main upgrade that Prison Life 2.0 brings is FilteringEnabled(FE). For those of you that don’t know, FilteringEnabled essentially prevents exploiters from doing game-breaking exploits, such as changing the skybox, deleting the map, gaining admin commands, and much more. Now, FilteringEnabled does NOT prevent ALL exploits from occurring. Exploits that rely on a player’s movements such as speed hacking, flying, and noclipping, or on using existing Remoteevents/functions, are still possible. But for the most part, FilteringEnabled severely limits the power that exploiters have, and keeps the damage done by exploiters to a minimum.
Please note that my primary focus during the conversion to FE has been on modernizing Prison Life on the server side/backend, and not on adding big features. Why? The scripts in v0.2-0.6 were created in 2014, and the code I wrote then was pretty terribly done. They are bad to the point that adding new features would be extremely time-consuming and hard to maintain later. Now that Prison Life has been re-scripted from the ground up, it is now possible to easily add new, streamlined feature that don’t break a million scripts like in v0.6. I believe that the new system that Version 2.0 has in place will not only serve as a great game now, but as a rock-solid foundation for future Prison Life updates to come.
Prison Life 2.0 is slated for release in late September/early October. Before that however, I will be opening a Beta-testing place to test gameplay flow, bugs, and possible glitches within the game. In order to control the amount of players joining the game, the place will be Paid Access for the entirety of the testing period. The price will start at 45 R$ and may fluctuate depending on the player count. After the beta testing period of course, the game will be released for everyone. The beta will be released on 9/03/2016, so get ready! I will provide more details at the place description, so be sure to read the description for more information.
