So, if i understood this correctly, moderators and developers will be able to see every chat message, but they can still not talk to those in another age group?
have you ever heard of “misunderstandings” or “verbal warnings” and “investigations”, something moderators and developers NEED in order to determine if the player has broken a rule.

“We acknowledge the proposed changes will limit the ability for creators to moderate their own experiences.” Good to know they acknowledge it.
“This is something we want to address.” They’ve addressed it in the reply (the quoted message).
“We are exploring a way to give creators a way to view all in game Experience Chat regardless of user age to support moderation” creators AKA developers will be the ones with these options, but that doesn’t mean they can be outsourced (which is something important)
“Creators will still be limited to using in game communication to people in their same age group.” So they can see every chatlog but can’t communicate in-game. What’s the point of them even joining the game then?
“We hope this addresses moderation concerns while still respecting user safety. We will share an update on this topic as soon as possible.” This is Corporate tongue for “we’ve given you a reply, please leave us alone.”
So there, I’ve used the whole response. My opinion remains the same, they aren’t guaranteeing that they will actually do anything to implement this system nor to showcase that they want to do this or expand it beyond “creators.” Have fun being forced to moderate your games (as you’re a “creator”) while also being expected by the community to develop games. Oh and don’t forget that you’ll get to see all chatlogs, meaning you’ll have to filter through them every single time you want to see anything.

We had a cool piece of tech that had customisable radio that players can use to transmit across the map, with customisable channels and such, and wish an ai voice that can replicate what you said in radio chatter?
Well thats gonna be going out of the window. No more innovation on that front.
This is overall just a game ending update if this rolls out

Even as someone who outright mocked war clans, RP groups, cafes, and other similar genres back in the 2010s, seeing an update that is essentially the last nail in the coffin for what was a huge part of the community and culture of Roblox is actually shocking, and legitimately does sadden me.

I’m sure this has already been said multiple times, but this is a serious issue when it comes to studio collaboration
Development teams on Roblox are always gonna be made up of people in different age-groups, which is one of the things that makes Roblox so special; the fact that younger people are able to start real careers on this platform

dont say pedophile allowers when the update further prevents pedophiles. there are, however, other reasons to be mad at them.
This solves nothing if at all this endangers childrens MORE

There’s already been vulnerabilities established and pointed out with this system. Putting all the players into specific age group servers, or even limiting the chat by age groups, allows predators to pick and choose which group they want to target by frauding their age to the AI system. This update has no real net positive (besides liability and public scrutiny for roblox) and only damages the platform more for the users.

And knowning some moderator here gave me a warning for exposing a degen in another moderation related post just makes them look worse, heck he/she didn’t even ban the degen off the forums after he/she gave me the warning, even though full evidence was linked, nothing happened to the degen.
I don’t know if this would be the right topic to post (probably not) but I have siblings interested in learning how to make games on Roblox. With this new update not only will it make harder to communicate with others through studio but also their parents do not trust giving your information online (as most people should be taught to.). It’s unfortunate that a good place to start game development is going to be actively affected by this.
I wish there were other relatively easy-to-understand engines/games like Roblox. I still hope they revert this update or come to a compromise (safe chat) but seeing the push for digital ID recently, that won’t happen.
