AI moderation for Heads is suboptimal in its current state

Expected behavior

There are days where I upload 20 heads a day, and I’m forced to postpone my workday while awaiting a response to my appeal, due to a non-existent fault within my Asset. I expect Roblox’s tools for UGC creation to not present unnecessary challenges.

I agree with your sentiment about AI moderation, though I believe your head was deleted for the reason of containing glasses which are considered external accessories;

“Avatars can only be submitted with a modesty layer. All other clothing or accessory items — such as equipable hair, tails, wings, antennae or extra limbs — must be sold separately.”

Increased transparency regarding bans like these are necessary

I’ve always thought it was dumb that this counts as “Misusing Roblox Systems”, because if you get 4 bans with this note your account gets terminated. Imagine getting terminated because 4 of your heads were moderated for having glasses… it’s stupid.

Is this an Andrew Tate head or just a similar design? That may have been the reason you got a more serious ban.

Roblox doesn’t go into enough effort to clarify and organize bans;

The only place where you can recieve more information on the reason of your ban is the message center, which isn’t available whilst you are banned, making it frustrating to try and write appeals based on vague ban notes moderators have left on your item.

Not to mention how intimidating a Misusing Systems ban is for a Dynamic Head violating a pretty simple mistake. If they aren’t going to fix how AI moderation often mistakenly removes TOS abiding items, they should hand out different types of bans on occasions like these.

It’s not based on Andrew Tate or anyone real. It’s based off an emoji.

That could still be the reason it was moderated. I know the emoji you are speaking abt btw. I would try getting a message from support though to verify the specific reason it was removed.

Hi @karolisms Thank you for the report and apologies for the inconvenience.

Could we understand the issue a bit better - I am looking gather this feedback in a bit more detail.

The repeat offense of including the accessories, did that end up happening due to not knowing what the prior moderations were for?
With the policy in place and the moderation support to enforce it; What could we do differently to reduce unintentional error while preventing intentional abuse?

As a head creator here’s my feedback:

  1. Use a more detailed note other than “Misusing Roblox Systems”, we cannot know the specifics of why it got deleted as we aren’t able to read messages while banned.

  2. The penalty for mistakenly including accessories or makeup should be a warning at maximum. The “Misusing Roblox Systems” ban its under causes account termination on your 5th moderation. (Warning → 1 day ban → 3 day ban → 7 day ban → Account Termination).
I’ve heard from other creators that they were almost terminated after several of their heads were suddenly deleted with that note. It’s completely unfair that your account could be entirely terminated over having uploaded heads that have makeup or accessories by mistake, and suddenly getting moderated.

  3. Have it clear that accessories or blush aren’t allowed, as I’ve seen head creators make the mistake of assuming they’re allowed when starting out. It’s not unreasonable to believe they should be allowed.

The ban reasons provided for UGC accessories are often vague and lack specificity. This ambiguity makes it challenging to understand why an item was removed, especially when similar accessories may get banned for a different reason, but stack penalties.

Additionally, The “Violations & Appeals” tab lacks organization, making it difficult to identify which specific accessories have been flagged in the past. Given the volume of items I upload, it is impractical for me to manually track Asset IDs. Including item thumbnails in the “Violations & Appeals” menu would greatly improve usability and help quickly identify affected items.

The readability of my submitted appeals within this menu is suboptimal. I have noticed formatting errors, such as appeals being prefixed with “Your appeal comment: __FN__style|” and suffixed with “FN_END,” despite not including these in my original text. While I attempt to structure my appeals into paragraphs for clarity, the system compresses them into a single block of text, diminishing their readability.

My account was briefly terminated after I uploaded a recoloured version of an asset that I had originally created. Despite being my own work, the system flagged this as a copyright infringement. The ban note stated that Roblox had received a copyright claim against my item. However, the termination occurred immediately upon posting, meaning it was an automated decision rather than an actual claim from another user. This lack of transparency deeply concerned me at the time.

As @GaelPaws mentioned, if a user violates the “misusing Roblox systems” guideline four times, their account faces termination. In my personal experience, every time I received this note was because I added elements to my accessories that Roblox doesn’t permit, such as hair or horns on a character bundle. The ban note did not explain this at all and I was confused as to why some of my bundles kept getting deleted.

Thank you for the detailed feedback. Will circle back with an update on our end

Just now, some of my bundles got deleted, with no further explanation from Roblox support. In addition, all of my appeals are being denied.

The reason stated is “Misusing Roblox Systems”, but I did not include any external accessories.

I have emailed Roblox support asking for a more detailed reason on why my other bundle got removed, but I am yet to receive a response.

Also, after my appeal gets denied I get another warning. Even though I already got a warning for that item.

Hi - our teams are working on additional, informative messaging on moderation reasons to help course correct. This is expected in Q3.

Thank you for your feedback. I’ll close this ticket at the moment.

Please let us know with a new ticket for newer / releated issues.

The original report’s bundle violates Roblox’s Accessories and Clothing policy for Avatar bodies:
:link: https://create.roblox.com/docs/marketplace/marketplace-policy#accessories-and-clothing

According to the policy:

Avatar bodies cannot include any accessories or clothing. Accessories are items that you can find separately in the Marketplace that are not part of the body part requirements, such as equipable tails, wings, extra limbs, glasses, clothing, tattoos, and makeup.

Setting that aside, I completely agree that citing “Misusing Roblox Systems” is never sufficient to explain a violation. It forces us to constantly check follow-up messages for additional context, which is often annoying—especially because, by accepting the moderation action just to learn more, we risk subjecting the account to harsher penalties in the future.

The traditional escalation flow—“Warning → 1-day ban → 3-day ban → 7-day ban → Account Termination”—doesn’t really apply to “Misusing Roblox Systems” anymore. In practice, it’s turned into something more like:
Warning → 1-day ban → 1-day ban → 1-day ban → 1-day ban.

I’m not sure if they changed this after you wrote that reply, or if it’s been this way for a while, but from what I’ve observed, it’s extremely unlikely for “Misusing Roblox Systems” to lead to account termination—unless you’re a repeat offender. So the impact on creators is significantly less severe compared to how it used to be under the previous escalation system.

That was honestly the most absurd thing I’ve heard today. The Marketplace Policy already has multiple dedicated sections explicitly telling creators not to include accessories, makeup, etc., complete with clear examples for better understanding. I’m not sure what more could possibly be done to make it any clearer.

I’m pretty sure that if you reach out to Roblox Support, the moderators handling bundle moderation will give you a detailed explanation of why the item was removed—they’ve done so for me in the past.
That said, they honestly don’t even need to; I can explain it to you myself.

In the second bundle, there are multiple streak-like markings on the left side that resemble dripping or smeared makeup. Under the makeup policy, this kind of design is not allowed. You can navigate to the relevant section through the policy links I shared above.
