We are developers of a Roblox UGC group. Unfortunately, the group owner’s account was deleted over 30 days ago, leaving the group with no owner. None of the admins, including the owner, can access owner features like distributing funds—hard-earned wages of our team.
The group owner has contacted Roblox support multiple times to request a group ownership transfer to one of the admins. However, despite the group having no owner (since the account listed as owner has been deleted for over 30 days), no resolution has been provided.
While Roblox continues to profit from the avatar items created by the group, none of the people who made these assets—the group admins—can access their share of the earnings because we are locked out of the group’s owner features.
Expected behavior
There should be a possibility to transfer the group ownership if the group’s owner account was deleted. For example, if the group owner contacts Roblox support with such a request, Roblox support should be able to manually transfer the group ownership to the requested user.
Alternatively, when a group owner’s account gets deleted, the owner should receive an email asking if they would like to transfer ownership of their groups to another user.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration. I sincerely hope we can find a resolution and explore future opportunities to work together!
This would open up opportunities for a lot of bad actors, and if the owner’s account termination was justified, this should be intended behaviour, not a bug.
Last time I checked you could give lower ranks groupfunds permissions, which allow for access even if the owner was terminated.
I hope you manage to resolve your problem as not being paid for the work you’ve done is less than ideal, but this is not a bug and Roblox Support remains your best option here.
I truly don’t think that this would allow any bad actors. The only thing this would enable is for the group developers to be paid fairly and for the group to continue developing in the future. It’s very important to ensure that the rights of the group’s administrators/developers are upheld.
The group’s owner account was deleted more than 30 days ago. At the time of their account’s deletion, the new roles system (in Creator Hub) was only rolling out. The group uses the old roles system, which was the primary system at that time. Unfortunately, the old roles system doesn’t allow anyone besides the owner to make payouts.
We have contacted Roblox support multiple times regarding this issue, but unfortunately, we weren’t able to receive the help needed. Leaving an entire development team without access to their earnings is definitely not how the system should function. I’m truly hoping that this bug report will help resolve the issue!
This is not a bug, it’s a feature request. If your group holder is terminated for breaking the rules, you obviously did something quite bad and you face the punishment of being unable to access the group funds anymore like every other person this happens to. Roblox does not make exceptions here and you’re only going to regain access to your funds if the holder account is unbanned.
Looking further into this, it seems your holder account was terminated for multiple IP violations based on the kind of content you upload to the group. Roblox takes this kind of stuff seriously and I don’t have much hope for you that this ban will be lifted. Might CC @apoorcarpenter here for comment
