I’d like to use this post to publish an open letter to Roblox Staff who may see, about a question many of us have;
When are you going to finally allow people on IPv6 networks to play on your servers by fitting them with IPv6 addresses?
Global IPv4 exhaustion has already pushed the price of a /24 range to over 100 dollars a month , meanwhile the transit costs are far more than that, in most cases, so, in the event a new ISP pops up, they’re most likely going to go the safer route, and go IPv6 only.
4to6 translation mechanisms DO exist, however DNS64 and NAT64 ONLY work when DNS records can be retrieved for a specific IPv4 address, and there is currently no mechanism for automatic translation at a network level.
Roblox, PLEASE! add IPv6 addresses to the APIs, servers and website, it won’t take much effort as CLEARLY you already have a V6 equipped network backbone.
Do everyone who is stuck on an IPv6 only network a favour, and also stop being so archaic and behind the times, IPv6 is the FUTURE of the internet. Get behind it and become IPv6 supported once and for all.
I’d be interested in hearing the experiences from anyone who is currently stuck behind an IPv6 only network; have you ever got Roblox working?
