As a Roblox developer, it is currently difficult to see what people are doing in VIP servers when they purchase one for a game. For example they could be in there performing some heavy exploits or downloading the map with an asset downloader exploit. My suggestion is to give game owners (AND ONLY THE GAME OWNER) the ability to see who is active in a VIP server and maybe even the ability to join a VIP server that has people active in it. These servers could show up in a separate tab somewhere for the game owner. Maybe like “VIP Servers” under the game or in the dropdown located in the upper right.
If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my development experience because it would allow me and other game owners to more closely monitor suspicious activity in VIP servers. I feel this wouldnt be abused very often considering most game owners who would need this feature simply want to be able to make sure people arent doing things they shouldnt.
A VIP server is a VIP server. That’s simply what it is. Sure I’d like more control over it. But I think the ability to allow the game owner to join should be up to the player who purchased the VIP server. It shouldn’t be up to the owner to join a private server which you have no business on whether you made the game or not. It’s a private server for a reason.
Sure I’d like to see how many VIP servers my game have. And the ability to join them if I’m allowed there. If you need any other control over whats going on inside the server that’s up to you to implement in the game. I personally log everything so I can see what’s going on.
What players do on their client is their business whether they’re exploiting or not. Roblox will see it, and Roblox will deal with it accordingly. If your assets get stolen then file a DMCA accordingly. It’s like buying a car… only the manufacturer keeps a key and can take it for a spin whenever they want.
If someone bought a VIP server to do exploits then why should you care? It’s not going to affect any other players so it won’t effect your revenue. As for downloading the assets, how would the owner joining the game prevent that? Even if you shut down the VIP server to “stop the exploiter” they would probably just join a public server and annoy other players with the exploits.
Exploits can be used to affect item shops and such, even on the most advanced of games. Ive seen people use VIP servers to exploit themselves to max level in games.
